Hang four HLG 650r lights, each covers a 5x5 foot area. There, thats a start and helped spend about $4k of the budget.
HLG makes a lot of good products ... but have you looked at the PAR map on this thing ... it's awful for a 5x5. They're going to have to spend $4K+/- on lighting, but I don't think that's the solution.

The fact is, no one makes a great 5x5 fixture based on the PAR maps I've seen. The fixtures are all designed to fix in a 4x4 space, so the edges and corners tend to be a lot weaker than the center in a 5x5 space. I'm wrestling with the same issues myself since I'm going to be setting up a 10x10 as well.
To overcome the weakness along the edges, I'm looking a this fixture from Mammoth to fill in the gaps

As for the primary fixtures, here are the candidates
This 10 bar fixture from Mammoth might be OK without any additional fillers. There are a ton of these on the market, including on Alibaba, but the fact the Mammoth is stateside, offers a 5 year warranty, and has good customer service ratings makes it the preferred choice.

There's been some interest in the Geek Best Pro 630w which was only available on Alibaba. That's no longer the case. Some enterprising folks have opened a US business stocking them here. i love the even canopy for a 4x4, and with 4 of the single bar Mammoth units it looks quite promising.

Finally, I'm looking at the Photontek 600w ... I'd love to wait for the 1000w unit but that's going to depend on the veg cycle one I get set up again. The 600s will still need the 4 single bars to even out the lighting, but the quality and the spectrum are first rate.

Don't know if sharing my indecision with you helps or hurts, but those are my candidates for a 10x10. The costs are still around $4K-$4.5K for any of them.

After everyone gets finished telling you I'm an idiot and xyz lights are the way to go, we can move on to climate control and ventilation :).

Im running

Current culture UC8
1/4 hp water chiller
2 x Rayonled GLM 720 / 720W lights
3 x money fans
1 x wind devil
1 x 8" vortex S line fan and carbon filter for exhaust
1 x 6" vortex S line fan and carbon filter for

+++running a smaller intake keeps a negative pressure in the tent. Two 8 inch fans even with exhaust in high and intake on low was impossible to maintain negative pressure and my whole house smelled++++

Gorilla 5x9 tent - 7' with the 1' extension kit incase
Idealair humidifier with water hookup to automatically top up water
Blue labs guardian monitor
Blue labs auto PH and feed doser
Small floor stand air conditioner unit
Small floor space heater
HT2 climate controllers that controls everything for day and night.
A 75 gallon flexitank for a top off reservoir
And a 300GPD RO filter
Additional water pump for pumping water out for water changes

I spent $10k Canadian dollars and made that back on my first grow. Grew 8 plants (wedding cake) and got about 9 lbs of bud.

The plants grew like fucking monsters on steroids!
The trunks were so thick they were pushing out hydroton balls out if the baskets. Never seen anything like it...

dont cheap out.

Cheers man and good luck

Sub'd - I have long term plans for a 10'x10' room, so I can't wait.

Glad to see you're familiar with the process at RIU! :bigjoint:
A lot of "characters" here. I'd say take 'em with a grain of salt, but most are salty enough already.
Great info to be had!

2 x RAYONLED GLM 720 fits amazing in a 5x9

Like perfectly.

They are medical grow lights with bars and not cheap though so not for everyone.
Think I paid almost $4000 for two lights

Like I said, there are a lot of options out there. For this style fixture, the Mammoth 10 bar fixture I referenced will eat the Rayonled for lunch and save you about $300(US) per fixture

While the fraudulent mail in votes (ROFL) for best lighting solution come in, let's talk about grow style.
I started in soil in 7gal fabric pots, went to 7gal coco in fabric pots and now use a coco based 4gal hempy bucket setup.
For my 10x10 I'm planning 4 separate grow areas. Ideally I want 4 4 plant "grows" and expect to pull 24-32 dry ounces from each tray. In my previous 5x5 and 5x9 I was able to do that (well the 5x9 was like 2 grows). Personally I'm not a fan of SOG ... nothing wrong with it just not my thing. And you can't really be dogmatic about how many plants in a tray ... with something like Black D.O.G. you can comfortably run 9 plants (they grow like shrubs) with with something like GDP 4 plants is plenty (31zips under a Fluence Spydr 2i in the 5x5). It really depends on the strain and what style you want to adopt.
My setup is 4 gal square food grade buckets with Botanicare Ready Grow Moisture (coco) over 2" of River Rocks. I'm thinking of going to 5 gal round black buckets to stop the algae growth, but that will be a future issue.
How to make a hempy bucket is not necessarily a topic for this thread, but I'll be happy to discuss it if @Encuerador asks.
Getting back to the 4 "grow" model, I have a 35gal reservoir for each grow. and use Greenleaf Nurtients Mega Crop as the basis for the nutrient system. Each "grow" gets fed once a day in a drain to waste system. Once you set it up it's butt crack simple to maintain.

All I can say is the LM301H diodes have been tested and proved to be better than the LM301B's. So what about the HLG 605 Diablo vs the mammoth equivalent?

I may be mistaken but the only difference I'm aware of the the 301H series is coated .. not much difference in the spectrum or the output

Take a look at this PAR map and tell me why it's a good thing

If there was a single fixture solution that was a great solution for a 5x5 canopy, I'd buy it tomorrow ... but there isn't one that I've found so far.
