Do two 50w leds make 100w?

Guys, I started with a 100w cob led. Until now it is enough (just 3 weeks from the germinaton) but when canope gets wider I will need some other lights on the sides (I suppose). The 100w light is in the center of the tent. Tent has 160cm height, 125cm wide and 70cm depth. Now here is the issue: I have two 50w leds. If I put them on both sides of the 100w, does it help or the sides of the canope lack light? If it is okay should I put 50w lights lower than the 100w?

Smartass answer: 100W + 50W +50W = 200W

Better answer:
Yes it can help the sides of the canopy.
Get a light meter. Any light meter will do. You can download an app to your phone.
Turn on only the 100W COB.
Measure light at several locations at the top center and top sides of the canopy.
Turn on additional lights.
Measure light at the same or mostly the same locations as before.

What's the difference between center and sides with only the COB?
What's the difference between center and sides with all lights on?

Your tent temperatures will increase with higher wattage.

Assuming you are using quality COBs you are getting ~100-130 Lumen per watt, so 100W will only provide ~10k lumen.

If we're just considering your grow area (you have 8ft^2 of area), 100w is definitely not enough....
But for one plant in that space however 200W spread over the canopy and sides would be ok, and would definitely allow that one plant to get pretty big.

For LED, the recommended Wattage per sqft of grow area is 50W...up to a very maximum the plant can handle (without Co2 addition) being about 70W per sqft. (or thereabouts)

2 50 wats wont give you the same light as a 100w will, so no 2 x 50w isnt exacty the same, but its the same amount of light devided by 2
a 100w bulb is brighter on is own, but the 2 50w do give you a total of 100w i think :bigjoint:
