don't let the paper dry out. use more layers to hold more moisture. Did you let them sink in any water 1st? scuff the shell?
Put another plate over it to seal light out and you can put it anywhere as long as a cool area.

Just add more layers of paper and pour maybe 5ml of water over them with a dropper here & there then close em up and let them sit for a little while longer. We're in the same boat. I had some pop yesterday but not all.

Yeah Buddy..You have Plenty of Time...

You just showed Everyone your Main Problem You need to address (as we all do in the Newbie stage)... PATIENCE!

You have up to Max for 10 days...But normally after 7...You have a bum batch. Just drop them in a shot glass warm water as they said.

Since they have been in water already (paper towel had water how much and how long?) they have started to soak some.

The purpose is to soften the HARD shell. If the seed has vigor remaining, the shell just needs softening (baby chick in an EGG sometimes needs help in getting out the shell correct?) Once the shell softens enough or it gets a Hard on enough to pierce the shell, that's when it emerges.

Remember that's the purpose of the water with the Seed to begin with. Softening the outer layer so the Inner can emerge.

But the Maximum is 24-hour soak or then the water is now Drowning the seed begins after a 24-hour soak. So, just Guestimating, Do 16 Hour Max on your Seeds. Just Guessing that the soaking was at least 8 hours before the water on the Thin-layer dried up. Sinking means that water has gotten in and when you sink (that's the last bit of air you're releasing right?)

Good luck... and peep at it every 6 hours

Just plant them or use rapid rooters
This is my FIRST time using Rapid Rooters...
and I popped mine before planting...
However, I have read so many threads that say Rapid Rooters can be the 1st choice of germination and is High Success!

So, after this batch, I will be trying that method out. So, that's another Alternative Forrest! My seedlings are FLOURISHING in the Rapid Rooters!

Don't pre-germinate......it's not necessary and it only causes potential problems.......which you have already found out.
Just place the seed in rapid rooter.

Gotta wonder where do all these soaking/paper towel germ techniques come from? Probably from somebody who overthinks everything. It's way over the top and makes new growers think its such a delicate sumpin...far from it.... My 100% germ technique is plant a seed in medium it's growing in. Heat & moisture is all it needs. No soaking, towels or fertility chants. I never lose a seed.

Ya know...I started out germinating on the paper towel waaaaay back in the day. I am a former outdoor grower. I always followed my grandmother's techniques. Putting the seeds in the paper towel in a saucer (lol...Grandmother people) and placing it in the window.
Then I placed the rest in the soil and just went from there as I grew older. However, I'm new to indoor grow so I went back to paper towel cause I'm growing DWC and this is completely NEW to me.

But my short experience with Rapid Rooters, it reminds me of soil. I will be going back to the planting and waiting method on my next crop, for sure.

Guess I'm lucky to have FFA in school and growing up in a farming community where we just put a seed in the ground. Ain't nothing different with a weed seed.

Skip the paper towels. I use soil or coco myself but rapids work as well. Cannabis growers over complicate everything.

5 days after planting and roots already showing at bottom of pot. While people are still germinating in paper towels my seedlings are already developing a root structure.

Straight into soil. 100% germination.
