I'm going to go out on a limb and say the amber you saw was on the sugar leaves and not actually on the buds themselves.

Sugar leaves always go amber 1st.

The amber you see is the leaves. Easy to mistake.

Most of them are on the sugar leaves and a very small amount on the bud. But yes more on the sugar leaves.. so maybe another week or 2 left?.

Trichomes are just one factor when determining if a plant is ready and not as reliable as many seem to think. Some strains don't amber while others amber early. Just from the look of the plant it's not ready. I don't even look at trichomes anymore. I wait for the plant to stop putting out new pistils and after the buds swell and the pistils shrink into the calyx's I wait a week - ten days. Then chop. Although some sativa's never seem to stop making new pistils so you have to take that into account if growing one. But you have a few weeks left.
