Study this and get back to me at a later date. Peace
That's a good chart and one I've posted numerous times. If you look at it it shows that both P & K can lockout calcium. Those calcium deficiencies typically start to show up mid flower right after many growers start using high P/K bloom additives. Not really relevant in the conversation but related to calcium deficiencies.
I have always thought of internet forums as a platform for the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and discussion. My goal was not to say that some do not need to add a calmag supplement but to point out that it is not needed if you are already providing adequate amounts with the nutrients you are using. Many cannabis specific nutrients use formulations that are lacking in both calcium and magnesium so they can sell those separately as a calmag product.
I always state that the reason I do not add a calmag product is because the nutrients I use already contain both. That does not make them a calmag supplement. It makes them a full balanced nutrient that provides everything the plant needs. Are there people that should use calmag? Yes because the nutrients they use are not providing what the plant needs. I don't use those nutrients because I want everything the plant needs without having to use a bunch of additives because they were left out of the nutrient formula to begin with.
The bottom line is that you do not need a calmag product if you're using a nutrient designed to feed the plant everything it needs. Many cannabis specific nutrient lines break everything out requiring a grower to purchase numerous products to supply the nutrients that have been left out of the base nutrients. Which is why once I started reading labels and learning about plant physiology and what purpose each nutrient is used by the plant and what sources those nutrients come from I went to what I'm using now because it's 1/10th the cost and provides everything a plant needs just using it alone without any added calmag product or other additiives.
