8 weeks from flip?

Hey guys I have began some mamas after a decade hiatus. just waiting around currently on Day 45 from flip. Iven been watching around and notice people go for when they see flowers? Usually about a week or two in. However, upon watching Arjan and Franco grow sessions. The white widow they were growing they seem to count from flip.

So what's the real answer? Seems odd there isn't a general consensus. Or breeders do not specify what they counted upon their growing the strain

You can count all you want, but they are done when you say so. Some like it alittle early, some late. Some pheno's slow, some fast

Many many opinions but personally when growing say a 8-9 week Indica, I count not from the day of switch but a week to 10 days after, upon the sight of clear fuzzy forming bud sights like these at 2 weeks after flip.

For me these are just in their first proper week of flower yet they are 2 weeks and 3 days. These are a 8-9 weeker but really more like a 9-10 in reality dependant on grow conditions too.

Depends on the grower too, racy highs or stoned as fuck, even with indicas only there can be as much as a month for the trichs to properly change.

Many variables but I'd suggest counting at the sign of pistils at the very earliest and NOT when flipped to 12/12

I know, couldn't be more opinions on this subject. Of course, I'd want them to finish like in the vid but I'm on track so I can't freak out too hard lol. I notice your pics you say white pistils on top essentially where colas will be forming. So do we mean when we start to see these or pistils from the side branches? Because mine had them before the flip.

Thanks again!

Your first problem is listening to YouTube growers.
Greenhouse man what's wrong with that? Lol seems like they know their shit. From strain hunting and just them growing for so long..but I mean what's the difference than listening to you?

I'd just like to know in general what most people count from.. I get it it's strain dependent but all mine are indicas..white widow..and nothern lights. seems like not only this vid but other people just count from flip as well

Not telling you what to believe. I, personally, start counting when i start 12/12, and alternating nodes are rocking. Usually a week or two after the switch to 12/12.

Cool. So how long do you veg for? I vegged for 5 weeks then flipped had alternating nodes. Kinda fucked myself though by not writing any of this down or tracking it .. lol

I have never tracked it either. Usually i wait till they show sex.. around 6 to 8 weeks from seed. I have had some that required 12/12 to show sex.
Good luck. :peace:

I usually grow clones, so my plants always have alternating nodes and preflowers. I count from the day I flip to 12/12, but it doesn't really matter how you want to count it. They will be done when they're done. Generally 2 more weeks or so over the breeders estimated time.

If you start from seed it could take longer for them to start flowering. Clones are already fully mature plants.

Count from first appearance of flower. And then forget about it cause it does not matter. Just messes with your head thinking about it. If you don't have a great grow and have issues it throws all that out the window anyways.

Harvest when the plant says they are done...not when the calender says.

Alright so what about if you veg long enough for your plants to be sexually mature.
Would that equate to them being more or less on par with how clones perform? I'm not really trying to prove anything just trying to invoke thought and get some answers myself.

Thanks again!

It probably won't flower as quick as a clone since the clone is still older, but it doesn't really matter. Just use it as an estimate, and plan for 2-4 weeks past breeder time. But they'll be done when they're done. I also don't flush personally.

I guess that's the hardest part lmao
It sure is. 4/5 of my current plants are sativa leaning and I got family coming in December. Really hope they don't go over 10 weeks...but I feel like going to have to explain the elephant in the room to my S/o twin.
