help explain what this this is Variac Auto Transformer

i want something to speed up and dim the my exhaust fans as i just put back in my bigger one but its stronger then i need all the time

the speed controller i have makes the fan buzz and i read up i need a Variac Auto Transformer or DC motor fan is that correct ???

im looking at this thing but i dont know if its what id need or if its strong enough ect

If you can afford it a fan controller with temperature probe Is well worth the investment. The SMS Hybrid options are great, think they are available in Aus. They use triac devices which is a 5 step voltage controller vs a variac which is fully controllable 1-100% on a dial. Both types are buzz free (and far more expensive than the buzz ones).

thats abit out my price range. i was looking at just replacing my fans with a brand called TerraBloom

ive already got several working fans so thought it might be cheaper to go the Variac instead until they need replacing but im not sure if the one i linked would be suitable for my needs and or safe to use
