Hey guys, just finishing up my first grow in the 5x5, about 10-14 days left. My second tent is 9 days into flower, a bunch of Jinxproof genetics. My first grow was from clone, mutated monster crops at that... lol. This is my first attempt at growing from seed. Had a 100% germination rate out of 21 seeds but sadly only 6 females. Saved some of the males to collect some pollen and move them downstairs into my sunroom. Anyway... let me get to the point here.
At first glance these seem to be growing so much better than the clones I ran last time. Very robust healthy looking plants. I switched to super soil this run, it's a mix of ProMix, Perlite, Coco, Worm Castings, Lobster Compost and Vermiculite. It's amended with Grean Bicycles Ocean Bounty, as well as some GroKashi. I hit it with a Happy Endings compost tea right after and let it cook for 8 weeks before potting, I have another 150 gallons or so that I am letting sit over the winter. I water the plants with RO water pHd to 6.5. Soil tests at 7.0pH (analog), runoff tests at 6.8pH. Once weekly I add Slf100 enzymes, Photoshythesis Plus and I alternate between Recharge and Mammoth P every other week. At the start of flower I added some Incredible Bulk to their feed, about 9 days ago.
I am noticing that the newer growth on my plants looks kinda 'dry'. You may notice some damage to some fan leaves in the photos, this is due to a foliar feeding that had silica and liquid seaweed/kelp in it. I should have done a spot test first but I didn't. They didn't seem to like it, although my clones of some other genetics had no issues.
On another note, I did see a single flying bug in there yesterday, not sure what it was as I wasn't able to capture it, I basically mashed it into nothing as it was trying to get away. Haven't seen any others and haven't had pest issues yet.
Another side note... I have done little to no training this run, it is just a phenohunt, I am going for speed so that I can find my keepers, if any, and get the clones going. Round 2 would consist of heavy training , seeing what works and how resilient the chosen pheno(s) are. At the end of week 2 flower I am going to do some defoliation. These seeds were germinated on 8.18, were in solo cups until 9.9, then spent about 4 weeks in 1 gal pots, suspected females were then transplanted into 3 gal pots on 10.5 and I flipped to flower on 10.10.
