dibetics and smoking...

ok, I have a friend who is diabetic, and he smoked for his first time not too long ago. that first time, he rather enjoyed it and got high and whatnot. it was a fun night. a couple days later, we smoked again and he had a bad experience or sorts. he was alright during the high. he was just freaking a bit because that was the highest he got out fo the two times. well we all fell asleep, and at around 5:30ish, he started throwing up....a lot. about 5-6 trips to the bathrooms. he said that it was basically all water. turns out he got dehydrated. my question is this, does this usually happen to diabetics who smoke? he seems pretty convinced that the pot dehydrated him, which caused him to react so badly. if it is, does the type of strain have anything to do with it? the first time it seemed sativa dominant, and then second night was CLEARLY indica.

Nope, this is not typical. My best friend/roommate is a type 1 diabetic since she was 7 months old. His blood sugar probably went high while he was asleep. When a diabetic's blood sugar skyrockets, it makes them very thirsty and can also cause them to puke. It had nothing to do with smoking, I guarantee it.

thanks. I don't know what type diabetes he has. he has some sort of insulin pump which I'm not sure can identify wether he's type 1 or type 2, or if it has any real correlation to anything here in this story. I'll be sure to drop thio slittl ebit of knowledge upon him though.

im a type 1 diabetic, for about 12 years now... smoking herb, the high WILL LOWER my bloodsugar. ive been smokin about 6 years now... and have never gotten a raised blood sugar from smoking. only time the blood sugar will go up is from too many munchies!

tell your friend to test his sugar levels while smoking, to see how it affects him. and drink more water lol

also, i WAS on the insulin pump, but i ran out of supplies and have no health insurance.... IT SUCKS.

type 1 diabetics are insulin dependent, our pancreas does not function at all. we need to take shots.

type 2 diabetics are dif cuz their pancreas still works - but not 100%, they usually take pills.

i dont know what causes it, but i have seen several first timers throw up after smoking.... i have even done it once when i was younger; it had been six months since i smoked... cleared 3bowls in the bong by myself... puked a few times and passed the hell out... dont know what causes it, but im not a diabetic, nor were any of the other people i have seen puke....
