The head of the branch of the Justice Department that prosecutes election crimes resigned Monday hours after Attorney General William Barr issued a memo to federal prosecutors authorizing them to investigate “specific allegations” of voter fraud before the results of the presidential race are certified.
Richard Pilger, who was director of the Election Crimes Branch of the DOJ, sent a memo to colleagues that suggested his resignation was linked to Barr’s memo, which was issued as the president’s legal team mount baseless legal challenges to the election results, alleging widespread voter fraud cost him the race.
“Having familiarized myself with the new policy and its ramifications, and in accord with the best tradition of the John C. Keeney Award for Exceptional Integrity and Professionalism (my most cherished Departmental recognition), I must regretfully resign from my role as Director of the Election Crimes Branch,” Pilger’s letter said, according to a copy obtained by NBC News.
“I have enjoyed very much working with you for over a decade to aggressively and diligently enforce federal criminal election law, policy, and practice without partisan fear or favor. I thank you for your support in that effort.”

I see little chance of Trump's followers changing heart and embracing social equality, much less social justice. Sure, we can put forth plans for expanding access to healthcare for all, work hard to beat the virus, bring the economy back after Trump's disastrous epidemic is snuffed out and so forth. But Democrats don't speak the same authoritarian, brash and pugnacious language that Republicans resonate with. With the 70 million people who voted for Trump their power in this country is still formidable but their numbers are declining. That, I believe is the weakness Democrats should exploit.
I think we have to outwork them at the grass roots level to beat them. The battle that is now emerging is taking place at the voter registrar's office and in getting people to vote by mail or turn out at the polls to vote in person. Stacy Abrams, in Georgia, with her program to register voters and overcome legal obstacles raised by the Georgia Republican administration is showing us the way. Her program is why Georgia may have just voted for a Democratic Party's candidate for prez for the first time in 28 years. Regardless of the outcome, her program is why the presidential election was a nail biter. Her program is why there is now a runoff election for two senatorial seats and why we have a chance at one or both of them. She lost the Georgia gubernatorial race in 2018 by a slim margin due to the then Republican governor's actions that disenfranchised hundreds of thousands of voters that year. She worked hard to put in place voter registration drives that were backed by volunteers who followed up with those voters to make sure they voted and a team of lawyers ready to challenge barriers to access when local Republican officials raised them. This could be a blueprint for how to win the next few elections against an increasingly antidemocratic Republican Party.

It is the blue print for how you win the tactical battles, organize and work hard locally, all politics is local, you have to beat them at the polls. Fortunately Trump and covid will leave a wake of grass roots organizations that will make the astro turf tea party look like a joke. Generally speaking women are better at this social shit than men and millions have recently been motivated and inspired. Elections have consequences especially when you lose, you learn and what don't kill ya makes ya stronger. A whole generation of Americans now apprehend the danger their country is in if they don't vote, they have lived the horrific consequences and the democrats are about to become down right fanatical about democracy. Have you been considering bumping up your political participation? I sure as shit would!
Joe is focused on the big picture, the strategic battle, this is a war is about winning hearts and minds and Joe is the general. You win this war like you won the peace after the second world war, first calm every body down so clear heads can prevail, you can't talk to someone who is angry. Reduce social stress in the country as much as you can, Donald wanted to increase it as much as he could for a reason, it worked to his advantage. Study what you can do to cut off a significant source of their support etc.
The major advantage you have here Foggy is that a lot of smart well informed people have been looking for these answers and some have solutions. Many of these people are already on Joe's team and unlike Donald he will listen to them, this will be a team effort, Joe is not superman, but he will be a normal president and lead a team of accomplished experts. The pandemic play book has already been written and so has the one on how to chip away at the racist right enough to keep them out of power. Find that play book and if it makes sense to you, help to implement it, it will be a big job and lots of hands will be required.

Foggy it's no different with their religion, their conditioning over rides their supposed morals and ethics, they don't teach their children to behave like Donald, the hypocrisy and cognitive dissidence is readily apparent. Likewise with healthcare, clear majorities want some form of single payer or a continuation of the Hodge podge that is Obama care (best they could do at the time). The real problem with American healthcare is racism, it means forming a community with those they have been conditioned to hate and blame for their plight, those they fear to compete with, they want to "hide with in the protection of the tribe". Even though single payer healthcare would lift a yoke from their necks, the brown folks might get some and they will sacrifice like they are at war to prevent it.
It's why school quality and resources are district by district, housing prices are affected by schools and distorted, again the brown folks might get some. Schools are starved and social services cut to drive ignorant and stressed people to religion and into the arms of the right and the likes of Trump. The wealthy love the division that grid locks government and the only movement is to their advantage, tax cuts are the solution to all problems. In the 90'a and early 2000's they had a firm grip on both parties and there were racists in both parties, it was a golden time for them.
Now the country is polarized and the traditional compromise of pretending black people don't exist is over, liberal democrats (small d) and racist fascists (formerly conservatives) are the new social order. Donald and even covid have brought crystal clarity to the situation, the sun is shining brightly on the battle field and the situation can be clearly ascertained, I say good. This is how real meaningful social and political change happens Foggy, sometimes it ain't easy and some battles you lose. This war has the clarity of the second world war, it's real simple, good vs evil, the best kind of fight to be in Foggy. As John Louis said, "There's good trouble", and Lord knows the man wasn't afraid of trouble, or much else.
