Wanting to switch to Coco from Soil for my Greenhouse Grows

Ive ran coco with soil many times. coco and or peat is the base for almost all pre mixed "soils." Im pretty sure FFOF is coco and peat based as well.
ive also used coco in my own fully organic mixes as well. Its great for a medium for all plants in general. Most of us organic guys just look at it as filler for our mixes. its almost like peat moss , it drains and retains very good. EDIT: i "think" coco has a much better ph then peat moss also.

As for 100% coco , listen to these guys , they seem to have optimized coco to its full potential running it as hydro medium.

It’s just an inert medium that adds porosity. For a dense organic soil that is comprised of compost, EWC, etc. it is very beneficial to add some aeration to increase O2 to the root zone. For coco that isn’t an issue.
What are your thoughts on, instead of switching to coco, adding perlite to my already owned soil mix to add the porosity and o2 that im looking for, as a means to save money and put use to the ton of living soil that i already have? Or just say fuck the bullshit and go with the coco

Why not run a small test batch with coco. Imagine spending money to transform your whole greenhouse, and it turns out to be something you don't like.
I'd get a brick of coco, make however many pots it will make, and use those for some r&d. You might fall in love with that style, then you can convert your grow with confidence.
Adding the perlite to your soil is a relatively cheap way to improve your soil. Even if it doesn't make the soil perfect, it might improve your crop and make your life a little easier, while your focusing on testing the coco :blsmoke:

Coco is the shit man I just pulled 18.5oz off one plant with a 7 week veg from seed in a 5 gal fabric pot and never went past 800ppms most of the time in flower I’m in the 600-700ppm range (.5 scail)...don’t over feed in coco and always use fabric pots...also u must must must feed every watering and I highly recommend useing cal mag... take your base water before u put anything in it and raise its ppm to 300 with cal mag then another 3-500ppm of a and b veg or bloom that’s it

Are you running 3 gallons for your soil? If so you need bigger pots than that. 3 gallon pots are fine for coco but you are going to need to feed 3-5x a day so if you don’t plan on having a reservoir and irrigation system and just expect to hand water then definitely stay with soil. Coco has faster growth if you can meet the requirements it has.

Yes, running 3 gal pots

What size do you think would be neccesary for 1 watering a day

You won’t really reap the benefits of coco if you water once daily. It’s intended for small pots and frequent feeds. Coco doesn’t retain a lot of moisture because it is so porous which is what allows it to provide the root zone with so much O2 even when fully saturated and makes it almost impossible to overwater. If you only water once per day, you are almost certain to get dry cycles, especially in only a 3 gallon under the sun. You want to keep the coco moist and therefore feed multiple times per day. It’s very simple to setup an irrigation system with a res/pump/timer and much more convenient than hand watering.

I will say this though is she was in a 3 gal she would have dried out before next feed...her root ball was rock solid almost no coco came off of her when I cut her out her pot

The thing with perlight is it takes 30% of root space away from pots because they can’t grow threw it like coco
