Transplant and flowering

Morning everybody, question on my plants. My plants are in 3 gal pots, almost 6wks old in ffof soil, strain is blue cheese. Plants had a rough start, re veg, toxicity issue, slow vertical growth, but very bushy. Plants seem healthy now to me and are not showing rootbound health issues but still short,tallest 12inches. Still growing bushy in the center with regular trimming, no pruning. Noticed roots had poked out the bottom a little while back, the light seems to have put them back inside, from the top of the pots approximately 2 inches down very thin roots have spread all the way to the edges. Wondering if Should try and transplant at this point before flowering? Still expect root growth during flower? I’ve read up on if these plants might be too small to flower, sounds like plenty have done it, won’t be expecting mega harvest obviously. Anyway thoughts on if should possibly transplant and if too soon too flower these little girls. Thxs for any feedback.

You certainly can transplant prior to flowering. Many people recommend that in fact. Go to something at least double in size. There doesn't look to be anything wrong with those girls to me. Looks like you got a lot of tops, the only thing you could do prior to flowering is try to even the canopy with SCROG or LST prior to flippin the switch.

I like your idea with a scrog with the plants, my only issue is my tent size 27.5 x 27.5x 63. Going to 5 gal pot might be a bit tight.Probably best with only one plant?, i acquired the 2 plants after the tent, maybe just give it a go and see what happens and learn from it lol. If it was me, I would just reuse the same pots because of your small space and height limit, pull them out of their pots, cut 2 inches of soil and roots off the bottom, and then cut 1 inch off each side, (ie; square up the root ball), then fill the bottom of those same pots with new soil, then put the plants back in and then fill the pots back up, packing the sides. Then give them a week before you flip them. And just so you understand, yeah, going to a 5 gallon pot and only growing one plant in that space would be best way to go, less work, but doing it my way will get you a bigger harvest. one 5 gallon pot with a plant your size, vegged for one more week will get you 3.5 to 5 zips, 2 x 3 gallons, my way, will get you 3 to 4.5 zips. So you will end up with at least 1 zip more of bud, and another zip more of trim for edibles running 2 plants in 3(s), instead of 1 pant in a 5.

Piratebug, i really like this idea. This sounds easy enough to do, as I would really like to finish both plants. After cutting roots and repotting, would you recommend anything special right afterwards? Good watering? Any extra nutrients? Or just stick to my FF trio schedule? Thxs for idea and feedback.

Do you see any need to take a top layer off also if taking from the bottom?
