i've been searching for this but what would have happened if the manatee from GSA never approved Biden to start the transition process? at some point, something would have to be done.

anybody have any idea what or who would overrule her ?
You mean if Republicans didn't follow the rule of law in the Senate AND in the White House, what could we do? Fortunately, the threat of legal actions against Ms Manatee was enough. Republicans had a taste of what would happen if they followed Trump too far down this path.

A lot of these holes will be plugged, hence oversight, by the house, win the senate.

No one need fear prosecuting all of these clowns, judges hear cases and juries decide, they can argue with them, not the "deep state", that's why they are there. That's the way justice is done in free countries according to constitutions and law, though I can see why they have a problem with it, since they are against both.

Writing laws that say lawmakers should follow the law. At some point, the system fails. We have a pretty good thing going on here. Not perfect but we have it pretty damn good. We can make the necessary changes without tearing the whole thing down.

I worked for a company that was very successful and had a long history of great returns to its shareholders. After the founders were gone, new management completely changed the company culture. Within a few years the company was losing money and broken up.

I guess people get tired of winning?

Foggy, if there wasn't a "deep state" before this bullshit, there will be one after, as far as these assholes are concerned, many want retribution, it's how justice is done in the intelligence and foreign services. The homeland security crowd have other methods for screwing the fuckers into the ground, much will be a personal thing, I mean the motivations, not the trials and sentences. Not a word will be spoken among them either, that's not how such people operate.

What I mean to say is they independently look at the facts and draw parallel conclusions, these fucks are traitors! You to have independently come to the same conclusion!

I could see Trump opening an amusement park, instead of the honorary Presidential library, for his devoted followers . There could be a Trump Run away Train rollercoaster ride, the Orange Orangutan exhibit and a free bag of Cheetos with your $150 dollar entrance ticket.
A big deep fried turkey leg.

Rubio calls Biden's national security team 'polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline'
The Florida senator said he has “no interest in returning to the ‘normal’ that left us dependent on China.”

Sen. Marco Rubio suggested on Tuesday that he would oppose confirmation of President-elect Joe Biden's national security team, presaging the first sign of potential Senate battles to come if Republicans maintain control of the Senate.

Rubio (R-Fla.) said Biden’s selections “will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline,” criticizing their professional credentials and Washington bona fides. Rubio sits on both the Senate Foreign Relations and Intelligence committees.

“Biden’s cabinet picks went to Ivy League schools, have strong resumes, attend all the right conferences & will be polite & orderly caretakers of America’s decline,” he tweeted. “I support American greatness. And I have no interest in returning to the ‘normal’ that left us dependent on China.”

In recent days Biden has announced plans to nominate Antony Blinken as secretary of State and Linda Thomas-Greenfield as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations — jobs whose occupants require Senate confirmation. The president-elect has also named Jake Sullivan as his national security adviser, a White House role on which the Senate has no say.

Blinken, Thomas-Greenfield and Sullivan join a handful of other high-profile nominees — former Secretary of State John Kerry among them — who have thus far been light on surprises and heavy on experienced hands and veterans of the Obama administration. Biden has not yet announced his pick for Defense secretary, a centerpiece of the national security apparatus, despite widespread speculation that the job would go to Michèle Flournoy.

Rubio ran for president in 2016 and remains one of the GOP's highest-profile lawmakers. The Florida senator, a child of Cuban immigrants, has been especially vocal on issues related to foreign policy, and his concern about the U.S. relationship with China dovetails with one of the Trump administration's basic international relations tenets.

Biden has vowed to counter China’s growing influence on the world stage while breaking from President Donald Trump’s unconventional approach to foreign affairs — especially with regard to the United States’ traditional allies, whom Trump at times has alienated and cajoled.

But the president-elect has to walk a fine line with his choices for administration posts that need Senate approval given the razor-thin margins in the chamber and the likelihood that nominees will need to garner Republican support to win confirmation. Some Republican senators have recently indicated a willingness to sign off on Biden’s Cabinet selections — while warning they will sink nominees they believe to be out of the political mainstream — potentially defusing what would be an early standoff in Biden's presidency.

That's Portland. I don't think it's representative of a large portion of the country.

Did you take that picture yourself? I never wanted to get in with the crowd. I didn't agree with the violence and looting going on. But I did go downtown to get a look.

Did we really need more proof of Rubio’s stupid cupidity? Our “dependence on China” was a decision made by corporate boards, almost all of whom are populated by GOP donors and ‘advisors’...with the full support of the GOP political class. If they didn’t see it coming, it’s because they decided NOT ago see it; he’ll, they probably figured they could use it against the democrats the same way they’ve used illegal immigration against them...illegal immigration THEY have profited from financially through near-slave-wages for immigrants and through suppression of wages for citizens and legal residents...and profited from politically by heaping it all on the Dems & pretending they themselves had (have) nothing to do with it while waving their “America FIRST!” banners.

Rubio will fall in line. Biden just nominated a Cuban American refugee to DHS. His constituents will expect him to offer something in return as gratitude. He's just running his mouth to make sure the trump loyalists still support him. The Cuban community won't be happy if he gives Biden the finger after giving a Cuban refugee a cabinet position. And now that trumps gone the more moderate Republicans will vote to confirm so even with a majority on paper in the Senate it's not going to be like it was. Romney, Murkowski, Collins, and several others are no longer under the thumb. Biden will get all his people confirmed.

Nah, I'm nowhere near that good at taking pictures. It's a stock image.

I was bothered by the broken windows and looting that happened too. Last year and the years before I attended the counter demonstrations that opposed people who wanted to carry Nazi flags through our streets. But not this year. I have two elderly mothers in my bubble and couldn't risk getting the virus. I stayed home because of them, not because of the violence. I agree with you that much of the property damage was counter-productive to our message against police brutality and opposition to fascist control of the police. The violence, though. That's at the hands of the Police, HSA and paramilitary goons like Proud Boys. Antifa broke windows. Proud Boys and HSA broke heads.

I hate to break it to people, but in order for a democratic republic to work, you have to work with the other side. As long as one side thinks they can wait for a majority and shove shit through, you're in for a big surprise. Happy growing everyone.
Then red states/districts need to start to vote in Republicans that are not trolls. It sucks out of the last 50 years the Democrats have only had 6 years (2 in the first two years of each Democratic presidency) to actually get work done, and each time they were dealing with the impacts of Republican recessions.

It does suck that the only way Democrats have been able to get anything done (since the civil rights era) is to have to sweep in DC.

I'm thinking of potential republican senate pick offs with cabinet slots or even forced resignations for criminal acts, there have been a few by my estimation. Those senate seats who now have democratic governors who will replace them and there are a few running in 2022 who might be vulnerable to these things and might want to jump ship early. If you win one in Georgia you might be able to pick one off by one means or another and the replacement made by the governor or even special election.

Certain critical stuff to defend the constitution and future of the country needs to "shove shit through" and down a few throats, love and understanding don't win all battles. Everything goes in this fight, this ain't politics, that's about policy, this is social warfare for the future and the constitution, they declared war on it remember, normal old fashioned politics don't apply, learn to fight or die, it's that simple.

Lulz

Now that Trump is on his way out? NOW is the time to work with the other side? Trump said it clearly when explaining why he shoved a remarkably patriarchal, religious conservative onto the Supreme Court: "We did it because we had the power". Doesn't sound like Republicans understand the concept of "reaching out in order to work with the other side".

The checks and balances written into our Constitution are intended to do exactly this: Freeze the ability of Congress to write new laws until a consensus among the people of this country is reached. I don't expect our radical right wing lawmakers to change their tune and reach out to liberal Democrats. I don't want my representatives to sell out the rights of others in order to "reach out" to radical right wing nationalists on the other side. Where there are common interests, there will be progress. But don't expect much compromise.
