Chemdawg and Crit Purple questions

Hey guys, I started 6 plants from seedsman.com seeds about a month and a half ago. Fox farm happy Frog soil and just started feeding Fox Farm Big Grow this week (3 weeks after transplant to 1 gallons). Going to transplant them to 5 gallons soon, but I have to wait for smoke detector and carbon monoxide inspectors to come dec 1 (living in California, but still planning on taking tent down partially to be safe) :(

Questions:
Crit purple: anyone ever seen a plant grow like that? The leaves only have 3 fingers/leaves instead of 7 and its growing large...

Chemdawg: its lighter than the others and has a few brown spots on the leaves.

Any comments?

Thanks guys!

I am finishing a Chemdawg and she has had a lot of brown spots that I was trying to get rid of the entire grow but couldn’t seem to . It might be a cal mag deficiency . I really think the strain is very tricky to grow because I have never had problems like that before . Also might want to check your ph with her. I have a feeling she prefers high acidic . Good luck!

Nice, thanks for reply. I'm feeding vegetative nutes now, so not sure why they would be deficient. Ph is around 6.3 always. Maybe I'll try Epsom salt and egg shells at some point.

Do you have pics of yours?

You can believe this or not, but in the 45+ years I have been growing the most prevalent growers deficiency that I have ever seen is a magnesium deficiency! Most people don't realize that most pot plants bred today have origins pointing to ancient sea bed area's where unlike other area's on earth where magnesium is the 8th most abundant mineral, it's the 2nd most abundant mineral in those ancient sea bed area's. And where the plant has evolved will always determine the amount of magnesium it truly needs to not only survive, but flourish too! So that is why I always recommend to new growers that from day one, when growing cannabis, that they always feed their plants a light supplement of magnesium to their plants which won't ever hurt plants that doesn't need the extra magnesium, but will greatly help those plant strains that have evolved in those ancient sea bed area's that exist here on earth! Add 1/2 teaspoon of Epsom salt per 1 gallon of water or feed solution up until 2 weeks before chop!

Hey Doc! Congrats on choosing Chemdog.. I've grown hydro for about 8 years and thought I grew strong weed until I grew a couple of GreenHouse Seeds Chemdog. I vegged mine for 40 days in DWC and then let her flower. I had always been a believer about checking the trikes to see when they start ambering up. That never happened to my Chemdog. I had a huge plant. it was about 6' tall and had 7 colas over 24" long. I kept growing and growing, the colas got really heavy and had to be supported by strings to stay erect. The buds started adding those late tumor looking knots around the bud just getting fatter and denser. The smell was dank as hell too. I finally harvested around 12 weeks of flowering but still had clear trikes.
I harvested 13 oz. from one plant and ince dried and cured was hands down the strongest most narcotic weed I ever smoked. If you shared more than a half a joint with a few buddies chances are one would get light headed or even get sick because the high was so powerful.
I jarred 6 half-gallon mason jars with that one plant, some of the buds barely fit into the wide-mouth opening lol.

I've still got a few Chemdog seeds (not greenhouse seed banks so we'll see) I will plant this coming spring but I doubt they will be as good as the Greenhouse strain I got about 8 years ago.

I had no trouble growing the Chemdog, with the right nutes it would grow enough in one day to be noticable when flowering started, it had a pretty strong stretch but that was OK, I had the headroom and the long stretch turned into long colas. I've still got some pics of that grow I'll have to repost here soon.

Good luck and hope the dawg treats you right!

Yeah I heard that about the trikes. I really want to harvest mine now because I am so bored and it’s over 9 weeks. What should I do???

Well, what I did was I harvested about 2 ounces around week 9 or 10 then harvested the rest after 12-12.5 weeks. It would be an interesting test to see if you get a stronger stone on 12 weeks vs 8 or 9 weeks off the same plant.

Some weed even though it's a hybrid will just take longer to ripen fully. I do know there are more than a few sativa strains out there that don't get fully ripe until week 12 or so.

What I found after days of forum searching here and other forums was to not just look for ambering of the trikes on some strains. The Chemdog is a good example of that because they tend to not get cloudy or yellow, bu rather the trike stems tend to start bending or curling once ripe.
