Ok thanks, but how should I go about chopping it? and I have another plant in the tent next to it which seems fine do you think I could cut all the buds off individually and try and cure them and carry on with my other plant? Let me know, thanks
Just cut your losses with the moldy one, and get it right out of there. Doubt any of the main cola is salvageable, looks pretty rotten. If any "looks" ok, you should get away with edibles. Done it myself on more than one occasion, at my own discretion.
The lower buds may well be salvageable for smoko, just inspect them really carefully. And again, smoke at your own discretion.
So long as you can keep humidity under 50% or so, it's possible you can keep growing the other one until harvest.
If there's no mold on it, then I would try and let it finish up.
Most important thing is sorting out the moldy plant straight away, today. And getting it drying.
Chop out any mold you can see. Don't try to dry, or wash it beforehand.
Hang dry.
Or if broken down, spread the buds out on a screen or something to dry them.
Chop out extra bud with the mold too. So you can be more certain you didn't miss any. You don't want to dry it first.
Keep a keen eye on it while it's drying. If any more starts to grow or you missed some, you'll easily tell, and can sort it out.
Water / moisture is what's caused spores to germinate. With this in mind I really want to advise against a "water cure". Besides water curing being a bad idea in general.
Water curing is disgusting lol. In all honesty i'd rather smoke bud rot myself. No kidding.
H2O2 wash may well help you. Can't vouch for it though, haven't tried it myself.
Get the buds sorted and drying asap. Airflow / aeration is what it needs while drying. That should stop the mold dead.
I suggest consuming the bud at your own discretion. While I can say, I myself doesn't have a rare immune system disorder, that'll give me a bad reaction from smoking moldy weed. That doesn't mean yourself or someone else won't.
Reality is, these spores are blowing around all the time. In almost every single grow out there. It is just a reality...
Very, very difficult to have no spores around at all. Just because we can't "see it" doesn't mean spores aren't around or in our bud. They very likely already are, every single time.
Humidity is what's caused the mold spores to germinate. It's environmental.
That's the main reason it usually infects the largest colas too. Because they hold more moisture and provide insulation.
Contol the humidity better and get more / or bigger fans. Consider your intake > outtake too. Fresh air is really important as well.
If your airflow is adequate and you've been keeping humidity under control, humidity might be spiking when the lights are out.
At least that's what usually happens using HID.
There's a certain amount of general misinformation about Grey Mold being a systemic infection as well. It's systemic in the environment, not it's host. It isn't systemic in it's host like a virus. It requires spore germination to spread.
Really common sources for Grey mold outdoors is fallen fruit, other infected plants, or spraying plants with a hose left on the ground.
Dry windy conditions spread the spores and wet or humid conditions help them germinate.
Excuse the wall of text. Hope some of it is helpful.
Sorry about the mold, feel your pain. Mold sucks.
I wouldn't personally call it a total loss though. And if you can keep airflow and humidity under control, I think you have a good chance of getting your other plant to harvest.
P.S. Keep your utensils and hands really clean. Especially after using on infected material. I'd personally use different utensils for healthy plants.
Also keep a really keen eye on your other plant from here on out. And be ready to make a call.
Good luck.
