my first update on my first all led grow: (5x10 tent with 2xA8's) The size is amazing! 4 weeks after the flip and im seeing "done size" flowers. At first i was chalking it up to the more mature plants then im used to but not any more.....the leds are making my flowers seeably bigger. Im on a fairly strict diet with these girls.....pretty strict environment and i run a lot.... i got plenty of HPS to compare. Im 100% its the leds making them bigger.

Im not the best guy to run test as i only get .5 g/w anyway but i can see clearly that the leds are doing way better then my hps. The spread is unbelieveable. The darkest corner is prolly 7-800 ppf.

EDIT: Just for the record , im using lm301h 3000k with only 630nm added. (about 2100 diodes total)
Any pics?

Sure , soon as they wake up , ill grab some. nothing special to show except the spread and the distance to canopy. There is one bud that reaches the height that the whole canopy should be, so i cant lower it but i dont thinnk i need to. I got the lights as high up in the tent as they will go and the lower shit is still just like it would be under hps. Average of about 30" to canopy on 3ft plants.

This is just my own 1 cent. Im not a yielder. So im not the one to compare to for high yields. I run a super outdated method of sog. The oldest sog known. Root um, throw um in flower. Im just now starting to slow down an grow um a lil bigger before the flip. i been stuck on this method so many years , that its hard to just switch anything your used to. Same with hps , i still have no switched.... this tent is just a test run. call me old an the least efficient grower around. :bigjoint:

most unorganized tent ever. 4 different strains in there.... 2 need extra N , 2 need less N.

I hate tents because of the RH swings, lack of room, ect.... but its an ok test so far. I would like the canopy much lower so i could adjust lights but i just cant. I usually only run one strain at a time with my methods , and i usually keep them much greener at this point in their life but to speed up the "test" i used a bunch of shitty stragglers that didnt make the cut for the hps room.

All in all im happy so far but i have no real tests to back up my claims of "bigger".
Veg is different, i have optimized veg with leds and its great. A lot less watts with way more light!

Those 4k are super tempting for a veg light for me, even getting shipped to Australia, it's gotta be a deal.

I'm furiously back and forth between digi key and arrow, comparing and I'm losing my mind haha

arrow is free shipping worldwide if your order is > $50 and under 22 lbs. just sign up for arrow perks or whatever their email promo is called. usually after I order they send me a 10% off coupon too for the next order. also they will price match so if u see something cheaper on digikey just tell them in the chat and they will adjust the price in your shopping cart.

Thanks ILR, appreciate the heads up. Makes it even more worthwhile and, makes a lot of sense when seeing how many you're all ordering :razz:

Just a quick update on strip builds:
These strips are so PERFECT !!! i can build a single strip grow light for houseplants , all the way up to a million watt flower light! They are so universal for everything.
I have yet to use any kind of heat sink yet.... dont need any heatsink running them at lower currents and also running them lower then nominal will increase the life of the diodes and increase efficiency.
I have already built um , used um, ripped um apart and building different lengths and sizes. My favorite build is a 2"x4"x8' board using 12 strips and a 200 watt driver. Makes a great side light for flower or a shelf light for veg. its great.

I need a few of those.
