Yields seem low

Hey folks,

I am new here, so please let me know if this is would be a better post in a different forum.

I just finished a run of a Dolato plant, and I am pretty disappointed with the yield I was able to get. I'm wondering if anyone here can suggest reasons why my yield may have been so low, and what I could do to help get it up.

I grew the plant in a 3 gal smart pot using Happy Frog soil and Roots Organics Buddha Bloom flowering nutrients under a 315w CMH. The buds themselves were pretty dense, but just never seemed to put a lot of weight on. I had the plant trained throughout its lifecycle, so I'm wondering if maybe I had it trained to hard?

I also included a picture of the plant shortly before she went into the dark phase. It's the plant circled in red in the picture attached.

Happy to answer any qualifying questions you folks may have - halp!

looks good to me perhaps you need more light or better genetics, usually its one of those two
I'm hoping it's just that - I ended up adding an older version 600w Black Dog LED late in the game - it's still up and is going strong on my next run, so hopefully just adding the extra light will be the thing to get it going. Strangely enough, I ran a single bad seed plant under the same light and was able to get almost 2 ounces out of it. That plant had a much longer veg period and was in a 5 gal pot though, so I figure that both of those things probably contributed to that.

I personally have never used black dog but I hear they are one of the better LEDs , I use HPS so I can't help there, I'm sure someone will chime in but I only use HID

genetics are always important , im learning the hard way aswell

Totally agree about genetics being important. The crazy thing is that the bagseed that I started and finished under the CMH ended up doing GREAT! Way better than the Dolato did, which is curious...

Well I can't get it tested, so I don't know what the actual THC content is on her, but she tastes great and definitely felt like she packed a punch, so I cloned her a bunch of times haha. Keeping that strain around indefinitely. I'll have to do some hunting for other solid genetics to match apparently haha.

yea let the hunt begin and buyer beware

So pone other thing that could be a piece of all this - I had gotten some fungus gnats in the room - working on IPM with them now (using glue strips and diatomaceous earth), but I'm wondering if they may have kept roots from growing and spreading as they should. I didn't have a swarm or anything going - probably a dozen or two in the whole room - but I've read that they eat roots and nutrients in the soil, so I'm wondering if such a small number of them could have done so much harm.

Also any recommendations for root boosters? I'm planning on adding some to this round to see if it helps.

I just use h202 to kill the larvae and let the top dry out they will eventually die off without a water source , neem is good too

Hydrogen peroxide, really? I didn't know you could use that - figured it would kill off roots. I'll give it a try. Also yes, letting the soil dry out and letting the plants get thirsty before giving them a drink.

I use 14ml per gal 3% store brand, some people use more it will kill any beneficial bacteria if your going organic don't do it, I use salt fertilizers

neem is organic but I don't suggest foliar spraying in flower

it tastes like shit
Gotcha. I'm going organic, so no HP for me. I'm also thinking that I may have an overwatering issue in veg leading do undersized and underdeveloped roots. I'm going to be drying my veg room out completely, and then adding in a root booster to the next water cycle. Also switching my Mars Hydro 1000w out of my veg room and into my flower room and moving my 315w CMH to my veg room.

Great White is a well known root booster...any mycorrhizal inoculant will work...sprinkle on roots and in soil hole upon transplant.
Works great.

Thanks for the info! I ended up going out to my local shop and picking up some Roots Excelurator Gold - came highly recommended by several of the folks at the shop. Any thoughts on those guys?

is that a mars ts1000, if so you need alot more light (flower grid 2x2)
So it is a TS 1000, but I also have a Black Dog 600w LED in my flower room, so I'm thinking that between both of them, I should be okay...I am in the market for a new light though. That being said, I won't be able to pull the trigger on that for a little while, so I am looking for more immediate help as well.
