Easy Way to Wash Hydroton

There are always better ways to do things, so if you can top this please share. From my old days with aquarium gravel washing, I remembered to shove the hose down in there and turn it on high. I augmented this by using a screwdriver to punch about 8 holes around the bottom of the bag. Run the water and watch the dirt wash away. Adjust the bag periodically to free up dirt that had found a little pocket to hide in. It isn't perfect as is evidenced by a minor amount of silt in the bottom of my buckets, but it worked great. I hope it saves you and everyone time and frustration.

That works great. A 5 gal bucket with a bunch of holes in the bottom works pretty good too.

haven’t washed a shitload but rinsing them good then measuring out what you need, bubble them for a day in ph water and then, they are clean and ready.
