Hey so I am trying to rig up a carbon filter system in my grow. But I have a couple of problems.
If you look at my setup, the ventilation system is a 60 cfm squirrel fan connected to my hood. No glass though. So all the air is getting sucked out of the hood and the closet through the hood. So how could I rig up a carbon filter system to the air cooled hood.
Heres a diagram of what I am thinking.

I am building the classic diy filter with the aluminium wire with a carbon filter wrapped around it. But in order to keep the suction going between the Filter------Hood section of the link I wrapped alot more screen around and put strips of duct tape around the filter every two inches So to decrease suction from the main part of the filter, and keep some of it on the hood. Then I wrapped the filter around it. On the 4 inch duct connectors, I cut out sections of carbon filter with the same circumfrence, taped about four together and put them inside both pieces. So my theory is that air will pass through those pieces, continue through to the fan, and dissapate. And at the same time, air will enter through main part of the filter and also dissapate.
What you guys think???????

anyway, looks like nutrient lockout on every single plant, need to seriously get that fucking pH tester in the mail soon or im going to have buckets of biodegradable plant material.

just got my electronic ph tester, calibrated that shit quick, and tested all sorts of shit.
Local Tap Water: 7.43
Tap Water w/ nutes: 4.95!!!!!!
I mean shit, I put in .5 tsp of tiger bloom and 1.5 tsp of big bloom per 1000 ml of water. I didnt think it would be that significant of a drop.
So I have pH down and no pH up, try and figure some shit out asap. Maybe ill mess around with nutrient levels till I can get get it to 6.5. Any ideas?

it ships from honk kong so im assuming it uses the same components you find in other models for more dollahs. and yea dude shit seems legit, it measured my calibration solution with pH of 4 at 4.01 and my ph 9 solution at 9.0.
but yea son, i dunno why that shit it so cheap. plus it came in THE SHISTIEST packaging ever. im talking burlap package with twine wrapped around it. straight outta the factory i bet. either, it works. made my life a whole lot easier.
BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN WATERING MY PLANTS WITH WATER THAT HAS A PH OF 4.3 FOR FUCKS SAKE AHHHHHHHHH

Yo, so I finally beat that nutrient lockout with a new pH tester. Shit makes life soooo easy.
Just got some pH up, some more hydroton pellets (put an inch high layer on the top of the soil, help with my water distribution) and some Superthrive. I bought it because it reminds me of some old coot walking around selling his new hair tonic or something. It was six bucks so why not.
On day 12 of 12/12 but the lack of budding can be explained by the fucked up pH and uneven light cycles. I finally got the t5 and the hps timed up perfectly. I ve seen more budspots poppin up in the last 24 hours than i did in the week before. Well, heres some pics...
Given all the shit these mofuckas went through, im thinking they're doing pretty good.

The fates are definitely against me. The biggest plant, the bottom one in the photos, and the solo shot, was a male. This is absurd thats 3 males out of 6 germinated seeds. I thought sensi seeds had a better ratio...
Also, the roots of my plants were growing through the clay pellets at the bottom....Should I transplant them into something a litte bigger? Like 5 gallon buckets or something?

actually dude i didnt purposelly top any of em! basically what happened was i lost a top due to mg deficiency so i cut it off, so the smaller of the three branched out.
but whats wierd as hell is the biggest of the plants, the one with all the budspots, lost its first set of true leaves back in its first couple days of life. Ever since then the thing has grown in such an odd way. most leaves would only grow halfway and then stop, or fan leaves would grow ten individual ones instead of 5 or 7. its was fucking bizaare man.
BUT.
i just found a hermie and another male. which means im down to one plant. i cant believe this shit happened, 7 out of 8 plants died or were males. probably b/c of all the stress. maybe next time ill crush up some xanax and add it to their fertilizer regimen.
off to find some new seeds, i think my buddys gonna throw me some nl x blueberry seeds which would be incredible. still shitty about the other guys though...

Just a quick update with some pics. So I had 5 males that I trashed which left me with two females. Of course the two fems I get happen to be my two weakest plants. Not a huge deal, so goes the first grow....
These two plants were not topped but I have been bending the fuck out of them. So I have pulled the main colas to the outside and pulled the smaller budsites towards the middle. Sorta like a small sog with the main colas intact....
Got some superthrive but have stopped using it b/c some folks say it decreases bud density.

its safe to bend during flowering yes? im using thick pieces of yarn because i figure it wouldnt cut into the stalk if i tie it down hard.

i just want to flower them, take what i can get, and start over again from seed. i cant snag clones around here so thats not even an option, and i dont want to grow hk again. plus i already have a couple blueberry x nl5 seeds waiting for me when this is done.
