i know extended flowering will throw up the odd male flower late on, or nana by the sounds of it. where stress can turn a new breed of plant that hasent been thaught about properly

I believe we are the only ones who don't want seeds .cannabis is smart and will try to prolong the genetic lines any resort possible, quite beautiful really..but grr I can see why the creator of gg4 got sick of seeded batches, they are not lucrative for the time spent

i herd it the method used to hermie the plant when it comes to femed seeds, some do it the proper way with silver solution (coloidial silver of a certain partical size) and those who stress to get the hermie.
but i remember when nirvana had a flowering room maDE Up of bed sheetspegged together and useing a fan to blow pollen from the male and he was getting all kinds of wierd crosses. so it could be a case of that, but highly doubtable

I suppose it's both , sorta of a mind fuck, another reason I trash immediately, this has been my first round with these issues , so I'm going to assume it's improper breeding procedure, on the flip side is a it user error? this is the rabbit hole

breeders should be stress testing strains taking multiple clones of one strain and submitting it to every kind of horror before passing it along to be bred

The real GG4 is a clone only strain. I think it's the Chem in it that makes it prone to hermies. I've grown Chem 91 a handful of times, and it was definitely prone to hermies.

it sucks because generally they produce excellent flowers , so the grower is torn or easily tricked with marketing

A couple times I got hermies on the Chem 91, I let it go hoping it would pollinate my Green Crack, but I haven't found any seeds yet. The Sunset Sherbert didn't pollinate anything either the times I saw some nanners. The Ghost of LeeRoy from seed had nanners and those pollinated a few buds.

So I would say genetics is the biggest factor, but then environment. And I think some strains are more likely to through non viable pollen vs others.

so therefor with care, one could get sensimellia from a "hermie" parent if there is zero stress

I don't really call them hermies if they throw nanners, but they are hermies in a way. And a lot of the pollen from hermies is sterile, so just because you see a few nanners, doesn't mean you're gonna get any seeds. It is a gamble kinda. But I grew the Chem and Sunset a lot and never found a seed. The Ghost of LeeRoy was another subject. That things nanners were fertile as hell.

And remember some awesome strains came from nanners. GG4 is one of them.

Ya, that's part of why I like it so much. It's very forgiving. It's great great great great great....... grandmother had WPM and it fought it off the best of 6 plants I had at the time. It's a hearty one. It was also the stinkiest plant I've ever grown.

who ever prepped that for snoop put some serious effort into it. i mean come on, if you got picked to grow for a mega star your tossing every shit strain in the trash

My current grow is what I believe to be a genetic hermaphrodite (from bagseed). It grew four clusters of male flowers (all of which I removed) and no nanners. I regret not manually pollinating at least a few buds. Now I can't carry on the genetics. I've only got a few weeks left of Flower.

I'm crossing my fingers for a few seeds anyway (you never know).
