depends, usually a few hours. I guess. Definitely ately within 24... depends on how overwatered. Ive overwatered and done no damage, I've overwatered and nearly killed them. Strain matters, environment etc etc...

The continuous overwatering causes the issues. After 2-3 heavy waterings depending on your climate environment it could show as soon as a week. Maybe sooner

Think of over watering not as a water problem but rather an O2 to the root zone problem.
How much a plant drinks depends on the environment (warmth, humidity etc) but also by how much foliage area it has to expel water along with at what stage a plant is in.

A singular case of overwatering you will most likely just get drooping leaves and slow growth. Repeated overwatering will deprive roots of oxygen and can cause all kinds of deficiencies.

Porous mediums like Coco, Promix, Perlite, etc are way more forgiving to overwatering. They won't retain as much moisture or get compacted like soil so the excess water will drain out and roots will still get a good supply of O2.

Over watering is about frequency, not quantity (assuming you have adequate drainage). Over watering is not allowing the medium to dry enough before watering again. It take a little time for this to cause root rot, like a week or so of being saturated and you will have root rot due to the lack of O2 at the roots.

When you water soil you should water heavily, soak the whole pot, if using bottled nutes get some runoff to prevent salt buildups, then WAIT for it to dry so the pot feels feather light before watering again.

Yea what renfro said. And I also wait for the plant to droop juuuuuuuust slightly, you can see it asking for water

Question, what is the best way to overcome overwatering? In soil, 5 gal fab pots 2month old plants in veg, droopy leaves, compacted soil, let dry completely and give them PhD water only? Cal mag? Or feed them lightly? Get run off on first watering after overwatering? Seems like I’ve stripped my soil, and compacted do not breathing

Let the soil dry out enough between watering. Overwatering is not about volume it's about frequency. Let soil dry until pot is light, water heavy and repeat.

Use Southern Ag Garden Friendly Fungicide every watering to help prevent root rot.

In the future, "lighten" your mix perhaps, coarse perlite works well.

What soil are you using? Do you have a pic of the plant? What nutes?

Happy frog, with a little perlite, I was using PhD water mostly but have AN sensi a and b

For now you can poke the soil with some chopsticks for a bit of aeration in your current mix.

Renfro got it covered. You cant overwater in one session. Its a frequency thing.

Just let them dry out. Once its light weight again. Water.

I just got back from out of town so I was happy to see them alive! But then I fed too heavy 2 times, rookie mistake I should have learned from the past but. good strain blue dream from msnl. Don’t want to lose time. Thanks guys!

Also obviously with soil and overwatering compacted soil happens, at some point I can tell my plants are not fully reaching to the bottom of the pots. Kind of top rooted if you will say, so when watering heavy that soil just kinda sits there stagnant. When I realized what I did I shop vacd moisture through the pots from the bottom. Roots follow water to a point of to much water. Do I dare risk a medium change?

chop the plants up into clones, and when they root, don't use crappy frog again

I never worry to much and nag on here, figure it out on my own mostly. But yeah first time with happy frog! How did you know! Lol last time too!

i don't know what happened to crappy frog...i used to use it in veg also, and now it's like using cheap top soil - it's not aerated at all

Well I wanted to know how a pro would overcome the situation so my question would be.. feed food after overwatering or water after overwatering? How would you approach it?
