Yes I could see that being true for some restaurant workers. But there were many workers in other industries whose income went up due to those $600 checks. And unfortunately many didn't save that extra income like they should have or realized that they would have to pay taxes on it later. Many are finding themselves off worse financially because they didn't plan ahead. They took advantage of eviction moratoriums and now are months behind in their rent with the eviction moratoriums coming to an end and no more $600 checks. It sucks but people make their own choices sometimes not always the right ones.Only if you don't count tips and the fact that it is easy to pick up shifts when you need to pay rent or whatever else. Waiting tables is not a job that the paycheck really tell the story.
During a pandemic, it is far safer (and far cheaper if we don't have to pack our hospitals to the gills with very sick people) if people with non-essential public facing jobs stay home.
no shit. take-out works for us. although mexican take out sucks; you gotta hve the chips and salsa while the chips are warm.I don’t understand the NEED people have for dining out now or going to bars.
I just don’t get it.
amazing how Europe pays their wait staff a living wage.Yes I could see that being true for some restaurant workers. I don't get it either. The need to sit and consume a meal surrounded by strangers has never been my thing. That and the fact that I have worked in the restaurant industry and saw things in kitchens that make it hard for me to eat out. Prior to the pandemic I rarely ate out or went to bars. I can cook better than what you can get at a restaurant anyway. Once or twice a month I'd meet up with some friends and have a pint or 2 but that was it.I don’t understand the NEED people have for dining out now or going to bars.

"They said, 'Sir, we're out of ammunition."amazing how Europe pays their wait staff a living wage.
denmark pays their citizens up to 90% of their wages on one condition: the company can't lay them off.
but we gotta have 1 trillion for our military and not our people.
By 'many' are you mostly talking out of your ass though? I would like to see those numbers, and then compare them to the cost of trying to figure out how to micro manage the checks going out to people. I am guessing it was cheaper/easeir to just send the money to the 'many' people who may make slightly more with the extra UE.Yes I could see that being true for some restaurant workers. I loved going out to eat when there was a smoking section. After they went away it pretty much ended the fun for me. Ended the fun of smoking too, so there was that.I don't get it either. we've been getting some growlers filled at our local brewery. drink local!I don't get it either. The need to sit and consume a meal surrounded by strangers has never been my thing. remember flying on planes when smoking was allowed? no wonder i got asthma as a kid. lol.By 'many' are you mostly talking out of your ass though? Planning ahead in a time of a pandemic when the POTUS is telling everyone that it is going to magically disapear seems pretty far fetched.

That's because brown people might get some, better to waste the money than let something truly horrible like that happen! Remember they are at war and in war sacrifices have to be made, even if you and your family are dying for want of healthcare. If the brown folks got some that would be socialism (just a dog whistle word) and forming a sharing caring community with those you despise, fear and hate. Why do you think the USA is an outlier for healthcare, rates of incarceration, defense spending and covid deaths? 47% of the population was not satisficed with a mere 300,000 deaths and a national catastrophe that any reasonable person could see was almost entirely Trump's fault. It's the same for the election results, any reasonable person could see it.but we gotta have 1 trillion for our military and not our people.
God I totally forgot about the no smoking signs.remember flying on planes when smoking was allowed? no wonder i got asthma as a kid. lol.
The people that believed anything that lying POTUS was saying are just ignorant. He was a proven liar before becoming President and he just got worse after he was inaugurated. Claiming more people showed up for him than Obama despite proof that they didn't. The first White House press briefing under the trump administration was a collection of lies and set the tone for the rest of these horrible last 4 years. Idiots that could care less if what he said was true. It has been quite an eye opening experience to watch. I knew there were lots of idiots in America but I didn't realize how many there actually were that they would ignore the facts and become basically cult members and believe everything and question nothing the scumbag piece of garbage said.By 'many' are you mostly talking out of your ass though? Yeah we quit smoking around the same time that the bans all started. I still miss it from time to time, but not enough to go get a pack. The people that believed anything that lying POTUS was saying are just ignorant. The smoking ban in restaurants and bars is great. I used to have to hang my leather jacket out in the garage because it stunk so much after a couple hours having a few pints with friends at the bar. That was back when I would smoke on occasion. Smoking is a nasty habit anyway. I'm fine with smokers having to go outside to smoke.
I cook better than any restaurant around.no shit. take-out works for us. although mexican take out sucks; you gotta hve the chips and salsa while the chips are warm.
I grew up in the era that had 60% of adults smoking. I couldn't escape it. Sadly, it made me not want to kiss my mom.remember flying on planes when smoking was allowed? no wonder i got asthma as a kid. lol.

That was my dad. Coffee and cigarettes yuck.I grew up in the era that had 60% of adults smoking. I couldn't escape it. Sadly, it made me not want to kiss my mom.
Not about everything. I honestly don’t get MSNBC or FOX.You are joking right?
I would have thought anyone who was familiar with posting history would know I was being sarcastic. Oh well.Canuck is often too good at sarcasm for his own good...
