Gavita CT 1930e LED dropping soon. Opinions on it?

780w 1930umols. 2.5umol efficacy. Not a bar or board. Looks like those spectrum sk602s that dropped a few yrs ago.

Was at the hydro shop and the guys were getting hyped up for it because its Gavita. Some guy pre ordered like 50 of them already. I think its around $1.5k out the door

Wouldnt buy it personally. Especially not for 20% savings.

Looks cool. They’re meant for commercial grows wouldn’t make any sense in a tent or as a single light source. But makes sense for people who have a warehouse full of DEs and they’ve spaced and hung em for even PPFD. Gavita claims they can slot these in and get the same even PPFD and save 220w per light pretty good. that electrical savings and no bulb replacement pretty substantial

What makes you say that??? I’m literally about to put one in a 10x10.

Dig. As I think about it 4 would be too much heat to deal with. 2 could definitely produce some great yields

A couple of my buddy's got excited by it. Not me.

Seems like its just meant to be an offering for people that just want a drop-in replacement for their HID lights. Those that don't want to deal with the larger footprint the 1700e has now have an option in this product. I think I remember the strips are more efficient/better.

As a result of its lower efficiency vs the older 1700e (2.5 vs 2.8 umol/s), I do not find it interesting.

Yeah, not worth the price IMO. 2.5 µmol s-1 when better lights are up around 2.8

I can't see the reason to get all excited about these. Not a big wattage savings at 80% and very expensive.

It's Gavita... you mostly pay for the name. Though they are known for a solid product.

Exactly.
Its for people that have this and want to slot em in and get the exact same PPFD they get currently. We'll have a law in California that all grow houses will have to do this by some point. I can see using these if you wanna do less work than dialing in a bunch of new bar lights. Not to mention that bar lights suck :P

I can buy a chill led like 700 bucks or any other of the DIY or even prebuilt at around $1.2 a watt. and its like 2.7umol plus its modular and I can add bars to up the efficacy. IF those numbers are true then Mars hydro stuff sounds like its better cost wise. Im still ignorant as shit on LED's still but seems like you're paying for a name and a marketing department.
IMO grow shops are a relic of prohibition and will die rather quickly when everything is legalized and we can just buy all our shit wholesale at a garden shop.
