Low temp drying?

I searched for threads regarding low temp drying but didn't find any.

Is 55 degrees F enough for drying?

Thanks!

In the first 3 days the best temperature is around 20 degrees Celsius. This way the buds will dry quick, but not too fast. After 3 days the temperature should be lowered to about 17-18 degrees Celsius to slow down the process.

This is my first grow and I don't have a ton of control of my environment. My tent gets to 75 degrees F max so I suspect when it has no heat from the lights it'll drop 20 or so. I already have a plug in heater so not sure what else to do.

Just want to make sure the buds will still dry properly, even if I have to dry longer due to lower temps.

Everybody goes a little different I dry at 24 with 45% rh and it usually takes 8 days that's with stems on off I do it with nothing but the bud she's dry in 4 and is a little bit harsh...

im trying to dry mine with real low temps, but one thing i will say is they seem to have improved in flavour over the last month or two. i get to the stage where i can smoke some of the bud, but when i go to roll another number, the bud is damp again. i must put them into some kilner jars to cure.

Do you use Bovida or some other type of humidity pack while curing???

Have you tried paper grocery bags?

To the op, yes you can dry in temps that low. It does take a little while longer but works out just fine. You actually might like it better in the end. I know that I like the stuff I've dried in a cold environment. It came out as good as or better than the same strain dried at 60-65 degrees. Just keep the humidity levels right and it will be fine.
Good luck friend!

well now im not going to try it, i realy want to improve and keep there flavour as they are now, i guess a while longer wont hurt them for another week
It works my friend. Give it a go. I just use my garage this time of year. And the flavor ends up being much more pronounced.
After two weeks or so hanging the cool temps, they get put in paper grocery sacks to finish stabilizing. I also use contractors bags to hold all of the paper bags while finishing the process.

all the years ive been paranoid about it taking too long or taking too long to dry was for naught. im realy happy and shocked with the way they taste. its like dream bud tastes like. all the years ive smoked quick dried bud and harvested far too quickly too.
im going to leave the next lot to flower properly, ie , not harvest when there 50/50 or 80/20 red/brown to white hairs, but get a loupe and wait for the colour change. im into bad habbits from the biker who taught me how to grow all those years ago. just wish i had some of the mexican and tai seeds from way back then. id love to grow them out properly.

the only thing im worried about is the moisture in the atmusphere. what are contractors bags???
Contractor bags are just really big black plastic trash bags. They are thicker than regular trash bags so they are tougher and light proof. They (unlike other types of trash bags) are also unscented. The unscented part is important!!! As to the thickness, I think the ones I buy are 4mil. plastic. Though they may only be three mil. Either way I use the 55 gallon size.
Once the buds are fairly dry (10-16 days hanging) I put them in the paper grocery bags for safe keeping and to further stabilize the moisture content. Then when the buds are at the point I would jar them, I will place the paper bags into the contractors bags. I have also used plastic totes. The contractors bags are just cheaper than the totes and can be sealed better (just roll the opening down and loosely tie it shut).
As I continue to trim the harvest I will put the finished buds into jars. And the untrimmed part of the harvest just sits, safely waiting, inside the plastic and paper bags until I get to them. You can and should open the bags at regular intervals for air exchange.
I first did this year's ago when I ran out of jars one time. It worked well back then and has continued to work well every time since.
