Perfecting Germination

I was wondering if anyone thinks they/knows they have/know the the fastest, most reliable way to germ seeds. i personally wet some paper towels, strategically position my seeds, fold over place in zip lock bag, and into my dresser for a few days. Bam!! germination. but ive also rotted a few seeds too. so does anyone have a faster, more reliable way?

Same as you, except I put mine on top of TV for the warmth. 99% success, although its been years since I grew from seed.

I remember reading on here some knew how to germinate in 24 hours? this for real? Also i read somewhere on here that the males popped first, and that females would take some times a day or two longer? Any truth held in this?

Mine pop usually at 24-36 hrs.. I use two pie plates and paper towels..plate, paper, seeds, paper..and soak..I keep it soaked and just put 2nd pie plate and leave in the kitchen cabinet.. Luck.

I do the same thing, but I soak my seeds 24 hours before. I usually get 1 out of 5 seeds to pop by soaking them in water.

I also use a heating pad set on medium anytime I am doing germination stuff

I use plate with a bowl over it covering a wet paper towel placed ontop of cable box, usually 24-48 hours

I just do that... no soaking, no heating....I'm at about 90% ...I've been lucky..

I'm gonna try 4 methods tonight, see how it goes. 1st method by gently rubbing sand paper over the seed then soak, 2nd method of putting seed in a freezer then using the paper towel method. 3rd way will be to just plain wet paper towel in a zip lock, and the last way will be similar to 3rd way, but i'll be using a heating pad. lets see how this works.

do away with the seeds and just take clones, dont have to wait for germinating or sprouting. When they sprout just keep a mother plant for clones and do away with the hassle of seeds.

seeds are no harder than clones instead of waiting for a seed to germ your waiting for a clone to root unless you wanna put it right to flower but either way you waitin.. germing seeds isnt hard at all and if you think it is you got a lot to learn, i soak a seed in water over night then plant it in its medium the next day and it pops up within the next 2 days so thats 3 or 4 days to germ and 7-10 to root a clone.... germing a seed is easy its ppl making it hard by tryin to hard to pre germ, i havnt pre germed a seed in at least 5 years and when i do grow from seed 9 out of ten pop up without any stupid paper towel in a bag or soaking til it sprouts i just put em in a glass of water in a warm place b4 bed then wake up fuck around a bit then plant em and they grow fine. germing seeds is easy, germing seeds is easy, germing seeds is easy, germing seeds is easy and keep sayin it

i have harder time picking out the seeds i want to use...but when i do find them all i do is drop in a cup of water 24 hours later they crack and the roots start coming out to play...just that simple...plant give light....

Well, some ppl like myself dont have access to clones. reason being why im trying to find the fastest most reliable way of germinating seeds. kinda why the thread is called perfecting germination... not perfecting clones... but thanks for the post and the bump. \m/

i have had 100% success with my method, i have a small tobacco tin, i put paper towls and the bottom and spray them wet, then place seeds on top and wet paper towls on top of that. i then place clingfilm over the tin, put elastic band around it to keep air tight then place in the airing cupboard. once seeds have cracked and root is showing a few mm, i place in pre-soaked soil bout 2-4 mm down gently cover with a very thin layer of soil, then cover the pot with cling film and put elastic band around again ensuring its air tight, then place this back into the airing cupboard. on average from seed to sprout take 2-3 days.

Constant warm water is important, 80 degrees is best. That will also greatly increase the male/female ratio.
