Companies are entitled to make vaccination a condition of employment.

Well, well. No surprise here. Of course there will be howls of outrage by the radical authoritarian right but here it is. Companies can require employees to get vaccinated and show proof. I would hope that those companies could prevent the fired luddite from collecting unemployment as well. After all, the employee basically quit rather than lost their job through no fault of their own.

Employers Are Allowed To Require Employees To Get Coronavirus Vaccine, Government Says
Being required to get vaccinated for work could be the deciding factor for the many Americans who have expressed skepticism of it.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has determined that employers will be allowed to require employees to get a COVID-19 vaccine and block them from entering the workplace if they refuse.
The commission explained in newly updated guidance that such a requirement does not violate the Americans with Disabilities Act, which forbids employers from performing medical examinations on employees.
A vaccine does not constitute a medical examination, the EEOC said, because the employer is “not seeking information about an individual’s impairments or current health status.” Employers may also choose to require documentation that an individual received a COVID-19 vaccine, the commission said, because it would not amount to a disability-related inquiry. Additional questioning about an individual’s medical history, however, must be handled with caution.

We will see how many decide to do that vs specific industries. Many places now work from home, doubtful they require vaccinations, but we will see.

Pork processing plants have yet to figure out how to get the work done at home.

Ag workers, yeah, they work at home. Also, if you work in the field and can't any more because of health issues, go do something else, like write code. That's what Ivanka says.

Auto repair technicians. Yeah, they work at home. Also, customers won't mind if they get covid through a sneeze from the tech while he was working on their car.

UPS drivers. Yeah, they work at home.

I know I'll be getting vaccinated, there's no way I'm going to risk my job over a shot, I love my job and the company I drive for

I was having second thoughts about the vaccination because you're not supposed to drink alcohol afterwards, but I'll make that small sacrifice to stay at my company and keep my truck, I love my truck too

I thought it might have been New York times, I'll try to find the link again and post it for everyone, but they had a vaccination calculator to see where you might be in line for the vaccine. Because of my job, I was near the middle of the line

Yeah I'll take the shot as soon as I can and when I can drink alcohol again it will be a glorious celebration

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm ready to go to the strip clubs again and get titties in my face, I'm fucking tired of social distancing

Sounds good to me. More and more schools are requiring proof of normal early vaccinations to enroll a child.
Time to get a new printer and make fake vaccination cards. I'll head to the south and make a fortune off the rednecks

I found this link:

I'm in the last 22% of the population. Should be enough time to see if people turn into flesh eating zombies before my turn to get vaccinated. :bigjoint:

There are an estimated 3,308,990 people in such groups in Oregon, which means about 78% of the state population will probably get the COVID-19 vaccine before you. These groups include high risk workers in health care facilities, first responders, people with significant health problems, nursing home residents, teachers, transportation workers, people over 65, and food and retail workers.
Locally, in Multnomah, Oregon, There are an estimated 622,022 people in phases before you.

OMG. My two teenagers are withering inside the bubble we live in. School never fully opened this year. I cut my work hours so that I could help them get through this year of online learning. They can do the work but getting them to stick to it is a real challenge. They should be out and about, disobeying my rules and learning the lessons we all need to learn outside of parental control. I took some classes in education on my own because I crashed and burned at being a teacher's aide early on. They helped but I am not cut out for a role as an educator. The kids were doing pretty good in school before they shut down. Now, holding the line at "pass all your classes" has become the bottom line. Basically, "show up to your online classes and do your homework". It's not enough but my kids aren't handling online learning very well.

My place of work, by the way, is asking when I'll be coming back full time. I work online and prioritized my work so that we can keep key projects going at about 30 hours a week. I think maybe in June I'll be able to step up to full time, but I haven't discussed that with my boss yet. It's not as if we don't need the money either.

So, yeah, I'm ready for that vaccine. I'm ready to watch my kids walk out the door on their way to school and get on with their own lives. I'm ready to dive back into work and not worry about my hours. I like my job and miss interactions with the people I work with too. Our story isn't even extreme and still I feel like we are suffocating. Other people have it much worse than I do.

We need about 70% vaccinated and this epidemic will be done. I have zero fucks to give for people who say wearing masks interferes with their freedom. I have zero fucks to give to people who fear the unknown risk when the very real one is overwhelming our hospitals and morgues. Unless we break out of this epidemic we can't really be free. So, vaccinate m'effers.

I hope every place of employment requires a certificate of vaccination or a valid medical excuse. Produce one or the other or go find some job in the gig economy. Speaking of which, the last time I used an Uber ride was the last time I'll use one until this is all over. Even the gig economy depends on our breaking this epidemic.

A cold beer at the rail of a titty bar. lulz. Miss that too. Get vaccinated bitches.

Good post. Just as I figured, my kids are going to be near the last to get the vaccine -- 2 million people in Oregon are ahead of them. The next step is to figure out how to get on list.

Still early days. The goal at this time is to avoid contracting the virus.

Why would you want a drug to be forced on anyone?
