Tincture reduction

Hi I’m new and have a specific question about tinctures. I did this process twice and both times I used an ounce of decarbed Midnight Splendor trim heavy with tiny larfy buds to two cups of Ever clear and four hours in the Infusium 420. I wanted to reduce this by half to one cup so the first time I left it in a dark place with a fan not directly on it but close. The result one cup of super green juice. The second time I put it near a fan but under grow lights and fell asleep so maybe 6hrs or so and it turned Mississippi mud color and tasted so much better. Can someone tell me if I’ve lost significant thc by doing this? The taste was pleasantly toasted and pretty palatable.

Doubt you've lost an appreciable amount of thc, maybe some as compared to room temperature drying. I'll often heat cure my pressed rosin for some hours using my seedling heating mat and I've never noticed a loss of potency vs rosin I did not heat cure.

I guess maybe a lab could tell but who gives a hoot?

THC is surprisingly volatile when neat. Your process should have kept it though. You lost less than 1%

You say the taste was pleasantly toasted. Did you get pleasantly toasted? Therein lies your answer. Using your quantities and reduction amount
I would get pleasantly baked with 4ml of that tincture, assuming a 15% THC content of starting decarbed material.

Following up why wouldn’t this method be preferable? Given it’s taste benefits? Do you know exactly what’s happening with it? The chlorophyll gets roasted?

You need to look into doing the QWET method and your extract will not have the chlorophyll or any green taste. I also reduce it by half using a hot water bath on my range with a temperature probe that talks to the induction burner and keeps it at 190F. You could also do this with a Sous vide set up as well. This is my goto method for gummies and there is like zero cannabis taste.

You can find all kinds of methods for QWET with an internet search, here is one that is very thorough.
