Outdoor 12 hours 2 minutes flower?

Noob question. If I put indoor vegged plants outdoors in March here will it go into flower? The first day over 12 hours is 12 hours 2 minutes of sunlight. I’d like to get as many steps right as I can. (Prop 207 outdoor grow )

It will start, but she will notice the night's getting shorter and will reveg, given that she survives. I won't say that light period doesn't matter it does, only in that it is the opposing position from dark. Flowering starts, in photo period strains, when the nights get longer. Or you flip them to a 12&12 schedule.

Depending on the type of weed you grow (sativa/indica) and the strain it self, plant can start to flower with 11 or even 10 hours of dark.
That's why indoor most common schedule 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flower. This light schedule guaranties that your plant will or will not go in to flower.
I would grow indoors during winter and then replant outdoors when day length is more than 14 hours. And harvest a monster plant at autumn.

12 hours is not a set in stone rule for the plant, some plants will flower with even 14 hours sunlight. If you take a plant from a veg chamber and put it out with drastically less sunlight in the day, it will likely trigger flower, even if its getting over 12 hours sun

If you want the plant to stay in veg 14 hours would be my minimum, I believe that is usually May 1st

Are you trying for a spring crop, or just getting your full season plants out as early as possible? If your goal is a spring crop, you need to figure out the flower/veg trigger of the strains you are running, use the link below to put a date on that and work backwards from there. I always have to allow longer for spring crops to flower, so don't cut yourself out of flower time by going out too late. (of late I have been allowing my spring crop plants to reveg after harvest. It's a long life for the plant, but I've had pretty good luck with it so far. Over 50% make it to a 2nd harvest)

But if you are trying to get your full season plants out as early as possible, you will also use the link (input town near you) to determine when it's safe from early flower. Some strains will flower with 14 hours of daylight, so act accordingly. Good luck.

It was just legalized here so my first conditions outside are definitely not ideal. I have the clones inside vegging. I put the two mothers outside on Dec 1st along with two autos. What you are describing is what I was shooting for. I just wasn’t sure if anything over 12 hours would be ok to put them outside during the start of the daylight hours rising. But if 14 hours is the safe starting point then that would be may 20th for me.
The strains are GodBerry, Ice Milk, and Hazlenut Cream. Also two mystery seeds. I revegged one. I was going to go 12/12 from seed since it was a mystery bag seed. But then I thought that I should wait till I get a clone first incase she turns out to be awesome. I’d kick myself if that happened and I did not get a clone.

I understand. If you have a way to protect them from the cold, you can flower plants outside now. That is usually called a spring crop. The flowers are not as big or heavy due to the sun being weaker. Here in NW Florida, I lose about half of my spring crop to cold most years, but since seeds are free and soil is cheap, all I'm losing is time and money.

It sounds like you are wanting full season plants. There are a couple of three things you want to think about when getting them ready to go outside. With clones especially, you want to slowly reduce your light hours from vegging, to match the outside light hours on the day you are putting them out. Not doing this can cause early flower, even if the light hours are within the normal range. You will also need to harden off your plants. This means to get them used to how bright the sun is. Put them in a shaded area for a few days before going into full sunlight. But the biggie is to stop thinking about light hours as the trigger for veg/flower, It is actually the length of darkness that does it. Understanding this will open up a world of plant manipulation. Running a light for a couple of hours at midnight will keep your plants in veg, even in the middle of winter. Also throwing shade (light deprivation) will make them flower in summer.

Thank you. I’ve been taking my plants outside during the day since seed. Then back inside at night. So hopefully that would help them before going full outdoor.

You need at least 14 hours of light to keep plants in veg outdoor. You can also use basic light bulbs for a couple hours at night.
