I'm bi-lightxual... I still can't work out which way I swing more to...:?

My Lemon Skunks under led...

Or my Williams Wonder under 2 250w hps...

Or my 3 Gavita 750 de 4ftx4ft tents with cream mandarin, tangerine dream and cheese..?:?

You see what I mean? They are both pretty good to be fair...

Maybe some just swing one way, some swing another...
How would you say (2) 250W HPS compare to something like that 750W DE?

Ya no way thay thing replaces a 1000w d/e hps. The 1k d/e hps is the fucking king of HID. I've seen a dude pull an easy 3 elbows + with 1- 1k d/e hps.
I've pulled a little over 9 elbows with 4- single ended 1000w in a sealed room w/mini split and co2. Don't think you could pull the with 4- HLG 650R, who knows though, I could be wrong.. maybe you could???
I consistently pull over 3 lbs from each 4x4 tray, there’s about 650 watts of led per 4x4 tray space, my highest yield ever was 3.88 ounces per sq/ft

As I backtrack through Hlg threads, conferences and media i find they clearly lied and they know they did. I feel sorry for HP's users who had to take the backlash and trolling, nobody likes a lying company especially at those prices.

If it weren't for gravitas figures I wouldn't have looked at the numbers and still think Hlg was a reputable company.

All this is just light output, HP's seemed better in red to green and pbfd which some LEDs seem to add to ppfd. Wondering if some are twisting efficiency par figures and overstretching their true spectrum too but lost interest in a lot of companies because it just seems like they are unwilling to have a real conversation.

Wow very nice. I need to get to that point. My led aren't powerful enough. I need to upgrade to 650w. What lights are you using? Nutirents? How many plants per 4x4 area. I need to to more and veg longer probably.

Not as good, but I was given these 250w's a few weeks ago. Next grow I'll use 6500k metal halide in 1 and hps in the other.

250w are so easy to grow in without too much heat on the plants. My electric is lots anyway, so I just have got past the point where I care about efficiency.

I use about 4kwh.

Got a 250w Philips Retrofit 4000k CMH at the finishing end of of my grow! Netting on vent that end of tent looks like Stren line under black lights. Vent netting on the other end is almost invisible. Visual UV evidence, also making top rims of containers brittle, couple have cracked. Also keeps container mix warmer. Transpiration has increased also. Everything is gooey as hell.
I run 200 to 400 watts of white LEDs in ther also and they do slap the shit out of HPS on a watt for watt basis, with superior spectrum. HPS has no UV.
Yeah, I'm sure there is some UV in these older CMH lamps. Here's the spec sheet, and it only shows the spectrum from 400 to 700: https://www.villalighting.com/ASSETS/DOCUMENTS/ITEMS/EN/1121242_Specsheet.pdf

These lamps do produce quite a bit less lumens than a 400w HPS, but I figure the spectrum will make up for that.

Being all for saving power I worked it out like this
60% saving over HPS
60% of 600 = 320 leaving 280
2 x 140 watt panels = 600 hps
my area is 8 foot by 4 foot with 4 x 140 watt panels
Yes and more than happy with them, having a mare getting stretch lights are 3 foot of the canopy

Depth of penetration apparently it is far greater with LED than HPS. dont be decieved cos you cannot feel it.
we are using electro magnetic energy waves its not light anymore to me.
I'd shoot for 75% to 80% of LED to HPS, but either way your math is off. 60% of 600 = 360, not 320.

Why do you keep saying "HP's"? It's a HPS lamp FFS. It isn't something that belongs to HP, whoever that is.

Secondly, if you are gonna call someone a liar, at least have the decency to show what the lie was and prove it as such.

shocking generally good at maths LOL other thing is ballasts on these are 280 actual LED power is 240
Stage is set will continue to the end with whats there just to see

My auto correct needs updating to grow words and just lazy.

Hlg use the words overstretched, let me make a retraction on the word liar. They knew it wasn't a 5x5 and it isn't equal to the 1000w de they claim on their site. There was a few threads also confirming it, sorry I don't want to have to find them.

More interested in why gavita was a lot different to Hlg and others in claims, yet more confusion, not trying to hate LEDs just get a clear picture which could be impossible, maybe this threads still getting debated in a few more years. Total necro posting.

1770 is about 85% of 2100, after over half of that 2100 bulb bounces off the reflector I'm sure they're pretty comparable, and that 2100 is when the bulb is brand new also, at the end of the first cycle it's not 2100 anymore. I'll agree with you that in a warehouse with 100 lights brand new DE's probably slightly outperform, but probably not in a smaller grow where the DE is throwing light past the canopy, even in a tent the reflective walls do absorb light to a degree..

I mix my own nutrients, 9 plants per 4x4 but i feel plant count is irrelevant, as long as you fill the canopy that's all that matters in my experience. Most growers I talk to with lower yields (1-2 lbs per 4x4) are using lower watt's and have thinner canopys.. Your canopy should be dense enough so that after week 2-3 you NEED to defoliate. I run some bridglux strips and also lm561c boards. I'm more happy with the lm561c boards and am setting up another room with more of those, 3000k.

But not in a 9-12 lamp garden? You are talking overlap, correct? Has to be 100 lamps?
Yes, 100 or more. Lol. Yeah I’m talking about the overlap, in a garden with 9-12 lights nearly every fixture is relying on a wall to bounce light back into the canopy, the the more fixtures you have the less wall per fixture

100 fixture garden in a 50x50 room would have 36 fixtures relying on walls to redirect light, a 9 fixture room in a 15x15 would have 8 fixtures relying on walls to redirect.. this is how bigger rooms kill it with yield.. they raise the lights up high and eliminate any kind of shadowing and pretty damn even light with no hot spots or low lit edges..
