I Think I Flushed too Early - How Much Longer to Harvest? Please see Photos.

Hey guys,

I think I may have severely dropped the ball with my Wonka Bars bagseed grow. I got the idea I was getting close to harvest because the buds have been so frosty and dense. The flowers feel kind of like somebody dumped glue on them and they dried (or strong hair gel). I started performing the "final flush" on Dec 14th, 2020

Information on this Strain seems sparse. It's by Exotic Genetix though and supposedly has a 60-70 day flower time. I know I am a little shy of 60 at this point.

If you save the macro photos to your machine, and really give them a proper zoom, you may be able to assess the trichomes. I'm seeing clouds all around, even on the lowest buds. There are a few amber-colored trichs, but they are sparse.

I am also seeing a fair amount of white hairs too though, and that has me concerned. How much more time do you think the plant needs? I am not sure how much longer I can keep it alive without nutrients. Thank you for any assistance you might be able to provide.

from what i have read most people like to wait till about 70% of those little hairs to turn orange apparently it effects the high somehow. yours looks like about 50% have turned to me. not sure how much longer for another 20% to turn. I couldnt imagine it taking more then a week though.

I could not find any nanners. Though, I believe this plant is a genetic hermaphrodite. I removed four clusters of male flowers earlier in the grow. I don't think any of the female flowers got pollinated. But, I was kind of hoping for a few seeds to do this again some time.

I would go back to feeding, no need to flush right now as you still have some weeks left before harvest.

Thanks for sharing your opinion on this, guys. I had a feeling people would tell me I have a ways to go. I thought it wouldn't hurt to "flash dry" one of the small "satellite" buds branching off from a stem with a dehydrator. I'll report back when I find out how it smokes or vapes.

One thing I am trying to figure out is if these buds have any capacity to "fatten up" at this point. Is it possible some strains like this one (Wonka Bars) simply produce smaller, denser buds? The 1/4 ounce I found the "Golden Ticket" in certainly seemed that way. Though, I get dispensaries can give you any size of flowers they see fit.

Flushing is for toilets. Feed till harvest. 2-4 more weeks.

I thought I removed all of the pollen sacks. But, I may very well have missed some (again, I think she's programmed to hermie). If you easily spotted one on a random bud I chose, this could end up being pretty seedy weed. I don't really care unless it's going to kill the potency.

I've known about that for a long time though. Here's one of the first male flowers I found on the plant:



Please keep in mind, the goal of this grow was to learn training techniques and have a little bud for personal use. They don't have to be top-shelf or anything. But, of course I would like to produce the best I can.

It can... many factors play into that.

If you are growing in soil giving plain water for a week or two is not really flushing. It’s just using what is already in the soil.
That why I recommended feeding once more. If he did a full flush. Like 10gal threw a 5 gal pot. The soil would be a bit depleted.

I had no idea I was doing it wrong. But, that's good to know. I am surprised people put that amount of water in the pot when flushing. It seemed like I could never water to runoff with this plant, because it would quickly show signs of over-watering. Throughout the grow, I wondered if something happened to the root system at some point. Or, if it's normal for a plant that size to only be able to take in a little less than a half of a gallon at a time.

I like your idea of "feeding one more time." But, I wonder if a plant like this might need a few feedings, considering how often I have to water right now (every 1.5-2 days). Any less than that, and the leaves droop. In two weeks time, that could amount to 7 or more times, after all.

After spending 8 hours or so in the food dehydrator, the sample felt crispy dry (not ideal). However, it ground up nicely and looked vibrant in the pipe.

I did not detect much smell, with the exception of a faint hay scent. The aroma wasn't unpleasant in any way. But, it was not inviting, either.

The taste was unremarkable. This was surprising, because the flower the bagseed came from had strong chocolate, lemon, and garlic notes. I probably should have went with the vaporizer to really get the full flavor profile. But, in the smoke, I tasted nothing. I will say though, the toke was VERY smooth. I did not cough until I finished off the bowl.

Effect-wise, right now it reminds me of Blue Dream. It's a very clean, uplifting, yet relaxed high. There are waves of giddiness and arousal too. My tolerance is up there, but I doubt the THC level is 27% like the original plant. I am sure it would be formidable for somebody who smokes/dabs less often than I do, regardless.

I was hoping I might have a shot at something a little more complex. I don't mind waiting a few weeks, so long as it's not going to rot. When ready, I'll place the stems in an herb drying rack within the tent. The only issue is the humidity is extremely low right now here (~19%). To combat that, I'll go with a dry trim. I know I need to burp my jars, too.

I just got done giving the plant a heavy feeding of Tiger Bloom and molasses. I didn't even need to adjust the pH this time. That fertilizer is pretty acidic.
