Dying clones. Please help!

So I cut and planted some clones three nights ago, dipped them in cloning gel right away and stuck them in these little soil pod things I bought. I misted them with water and left them in a dome under a 1000W metal halide running at 50% about 30 inches above them. I continued to mist them every 12 hours and added some water to the bottom of the tray, all distilled water never PH tested though. The room may have got a little hotter then I wanted it for a short period of time (32-34c) and never fell below 20c. They started to droop after about 24 hours if I remember correctly, I left them thinking its probably normal but its been 3 days now and they are slowly still getting worse. I have just moved them to a cooler and more stable climate temperature wise (21-22c), and have poured out the water in the bottom of the tray. I had to put them under a different light in this spot to, I now have them under 6 simple 110v NOMA Full Spectrum LED Grow Bulbs, I am hoping this helps them, but I don't know, I thought they'd be fine where they were before, but they don't look so well.

They’re fine and some are coming to a little better than others. The initial heat did not help them but they are not dying neither. Another thing to note is you are trying to sustain a large amount of plant matter with no roots to intake water. To compact this you put them in peat and I’m assuming you did so before rooting them which is fine but they will undergo stress until they throw out roots to uptake water and sustain the plant. I would be weary of overwatering at this point and don’t worry too much about them falling over they will stand up eventually. If they start yellowing and loosing leaves then I would start to worry, your plants are as green as can be. Also while 30c plus heat is no good a lot of light is beneficial to the rooting process.

I’m not a super experienced grower, I’ve only cloned once, 2 took a week to stand back up 2 looked doomed at the end of the week so I put them on the porch stairs and forgot about them, walked past them for about ten days on the way to and from work. On the 17th day after I cut them one of the clones stood up. I potted it from its solo cup into a 3 gallon pot and gave it nothing but water and the fox farms soil I transplanted it into. It produced over an ounce. Don’t give up on them.

They are fine. Clones do some weird shit. Keep them covered. The leaves will cork screw, sometimes go white, droop over, stand up, and droop again. Don’t let them dry up in the medium for a couple days and keep them covered and they will grab. Sometimes they take awhile. But hold out

Thanks buddy! What would you recommend for medium next time? I'm still unsure of how wet the medium should be I've heard of people leaving them in a 1/4 inch of water but that just didn't seem right to me they would be soaked!

Have you checked the temperature inside the dome? No way a clone will like being 30 inches under 500 watts of halide light inside of a dome, I bet they're cooking.

yeah I checked it with my infrared thermometer often and every time I did I was between 20-30c except for one time it was 32 or 34 I think. but now i have them in under 110v NOMA Full Spectrum LED Grow Bulbs and the temp stays 21-22c all the time its been 12 hours and they are actually looking a little better already!

Spray the dome not the plants leave vents open just a crack,also too much light.tilt the light so they dont get direct.leave dome on even 5 min with it off is bad.

Thats crazy! Good to know though! its easy to get stressed about their condition! You figure I should add some water to the bottom of the tray again? or just try to keep the medium moist without soaking it?

oh wow ok thanks! That seems like a good idea just spraying the dome! you figure they are still in too much light under the 6 110v NOMA Full Spectrum LED Grow Bulbs? how wet should my soil be?

Soil should only need one watering,once a day spray the dome if theres no droplets on dome.vents open just a crack.Too much humidity isnt good.

To me it looks like over watering. I found that those jiffy pellets (if that's what they are) really retain water and it's very easy to over water with them. This is true even after planting them in soil. I personally found that rock wool cubes or a coco/perlite medium in a small container are much easier for both clones or sprouts. Those peat pellets are pretty dense and water retention and lack of oxygen can spell trouble for roots or root development quickly. The coco mix eliminates over watering issues unless you go really crazy. I know others have had success with the pellets, but any time I have used them they've failed or I had stunted growth initially. I'm sure it's just me doing something wrong but I moved away from them to alternatives that are more successful for me. As far as too much foliage, with clones there is no root system to support the foliage yet, so trimming them and removing some of the lower leaves will help with the plants balance and new root production. Good luck!

Thanks buddy yeah they were soaked after adding a 1/4" of water to the bottom of the tray like I read to do somewhere which didnt seem right to me so I have dumped the water out of the tray and gently squeezed the jiffy pellets to remove excess water and have gone to just simply misting the dome and making sure the pellets stay slightly moist.
