Tincture help?

I want to make a tincture with the sugar leaves I trimmed off my bud. I am trying to find out what kind of ratio I would follow using sugar leaves. I have ounces of clippings and I want a potent tincture. I’m going to use 190 proof everclear. Not sure if this is the correct threat to post on, so I apologize if it’s not.

I find ratio 4g bud to 1 oz PGA is most efficient for producing feco. Make the feco first and after decarb during the purge.

1 oz of plant matter per cup of everclear should be a good starting point. Won't need to soak very long with 190 proof. Depending on the starting material, 1/2ml would be about 10mg of THC. Dilute in small amount of water as 190 proof burns the tongue. Self titrate to achieve your dose. Great way to medicate. Same ratio of plant to liquid applies for oils as well. I use MCT oil for ingestion and apricot kernel oil for topical roll-on ointment.

Are u able to draw out same amounts of the good stuff with less concetrated ethanol? If I use 60%(120 proof) instead of 95%(190), will it just be a longer process?
I know it will cause generally unwanted stuff like chlorophyll but I actually want that in the mix.

I've soaked trim in makers mark whiskey (90proof) multiple times. I left it for about a week, and then filtered out the solids. It worked great, I mixed it with a little lemonade for a delightful summer cocktail.

Will it be any benefits in extraction % keeping it soaked in there for 1-2 months?
Appreciate the knowledge.

I would doubt it make a drastic difference because alcohol works pretty fast, but that is strictly an opinion. When I do alcohol extractions to make concentrates I only wash the material for 30 seconds Ice cold. I repeat that 3 times. Usually the first wash collects about 40%ish of the oils from the material. The second wash is also usually around 40%ish, but is darker and contains some impurities. The third wash seems to pull an additional 15%ish but has more impurities, and is best for edibles or tinctures. I've done 4th washes and still gotten returns, but they were small and dirty, so I stopped wasting the alcohol.

I see. I just want a set and forget system that pulls out most possible, with or without impurities. Would be nice if I could just let it sit and do its thing. I would rather use more time with less actual work.

I agree with Thundercat but have left buds in 40% alcohol to soak for a couple months before - which strips the chlorophyll as well. The higher the proof, the shorter the soak. Rum 151 works well. My Turbo 500 reflux still produces 94% ABV from start to finish - using water, sugar and turbo yeast for starting material.

For the tincture I did just let it sit, I was just explaining my logic and experience with how much got extracted how easily.

With the tincture I put trim in a mason jar and covered it with alcohol and set it in a cupboard. I shook it a few times over the week or so I let it sit. That was it.

And 60% vodka will do the trick, extract all that thx and good stuff? I find the topic very mysterious still and don't understand how it all works. Though I read somewhere that u needed more than 60% so wanted to check with people on the forum.

Yeah 60% is 120 proof right...... so that would definitely do the job. If you were making an extraction you would want high percentage alcohol so you didn't have to deal with the water. But for a tincture it should be fine.

he talks about doing something like a double boiler method where you put your jar (CLOSED) in a pot of water on the heat and let it simmer.

>Pour the alcohol into the jar and place the lid on it. Lower the jar into a pot of shallow hot water.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Can anyone confirm trying this method without getting the jar to shatter? I would think your Everclear/carboxylized ganja mixture is going to have a bad time and you'll end up with a big mess to clean up. I could be wrong.

letting it reduce a bit. Tasted awful (lingering bitter taste under my tongue) will have to look for stuff to cut it with to make it more palatable.

Aprox 250 ml. VERY strong stuff. 1 tsp laid me out.
