Day 21 slow flowering or stunted?

Hello all I currently have 15 gelato 45 x PAC MAC in coco in 1.7 gallon pots. They are currently on day 21 of flower but they seem to be slower flowering than most of what I have grown in the past. I know the pots are a little small for the plants, but I am feeding twice a day and everything looks super healthy to me and I am getting vertical growth still, just no pistils coming from the growth tips. I have no light leaks.

very odd. i'm assuming they're all cuts from the same plant? has you or someone you know grown these cuts before? could just be slow.

That does seem very odd....Are you positive you don't have a defective timer coming on when it shouldn't be? I've had it happen myself.
I don't think so, I thought of this myself and I spun the dial on both the lights and they didn't turn on until they were supposed to.

Considering they look very healthy, I'd double check the timer by going into the room just after lights off time to ensure they're really off, and also ensuring they're still off just a few minutes before the scheduled light's on time. Ya never know until you witness it yourself.

I'm assuming by "flip" you mean changing them over to the standard 12/12 - and no experimental light schedules? Were the plants showing their sex with female pre-flowers before flip? I've noticed that a plant sexually mature and putting out pistols at each node transitions to flower more quickly than an immature plant that couldn't be sexed yet. In any case, your best solution I can see after verifying your timer is just giving them time. Hopefully you have extra headroom in your grow space because by the looks of them they haven't even really started stretching. Could be the strain too though...

Yes, this! The timer could be sticking...Just because it works when you turn it manually means little. I would witness lights on and off for a few days to make sure....or swap it out. Maybe you already have, but this sure seems like a timer issue to me.

I have checked right before lights on and both timers turn on when they should. I haven't checked them turning off as I had to schedule that for 330 am to Jive with my life schedule. I guess I can wake up tonight and check.

If they have indeed not started flower yet, then I'm completely out of space I may have to transplant and tie down to buy some head space. However they have grown about 18" since I flipped and the internodes are bigger than when I started but I am relatively new to growing this being my 3rd grow.

Yes I think that I will set an alarm for 3:00 tonight and double check that they are turning off. If they are still in veg I am super bummed, I know I can tie them down and recover from this but I was so proud of this canopy lol

I have wireless thermometers and hygrometers in the room. I can monitor them anytime and also can see a graphed history of the info.

If the lights do not go off or on, or had any issue I could see it in the data. It was a big stress saver for me. Someone in the forum mentioned them and I can't imagine not having them. Heck you can see live info from anywhere with a $50 unit.

Damn nice canopy for your 3rd grow. I'd be proud too.

These look pretty "Indica" heavy, so perhaps they wont stretch too much before you see fluffs of pistils at the top of each branch apex. I would plan on them growing at least a foot higher or even a bit more from where they are currently. I'd say that's your main challenge right now whether you have timer issues or not. If just a few branches get out of hand and grow faster, you can always super crop them or tie them down back to canopy level at this stage.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. I've been growing since the 1970s and I don't think a single grow of mine has ever been what I originally envisioned it to be. There is always something that interferes with my idea of perfection! We're dealing with living organisms here with all the unpredictability that implies.

I have been lurking on the forums for close to a decade, as well as consuming alot of youtube vids in this time as well, not that that replaces experience, but i feel like its helped me get going.

Do you think they will stretch another foot even if they have been getting a 12/12 light cycle for 3 weeks, what do you see that makes you say they haven't started stretching?

wow thats a long time I hope I can still be growing in 50 years.

so thank you everybody for the advice, I have determined it was a timer issue. I wont get into it but suffice to say I feel like an idiot. I was sure theat I had checked timers, Im glad i listened and re checked. Now i need advice on how to proceed should i cut them free of the scrogs and try and bend them down a foot or so, or should I trim a foot or so off first?

I didn't say they didn't "start stretching". The main reason I say they'll grow another foot is just because the emerging leaves at the top of your branches still look like they have 7 leaflets - meaning they're full sun leaves. Then they'll go to 5, then 3, then 1, then none (just calyxes). Once the 7 & 5 leaflet leaves end, then the nodes will get tighter, so maybe they won't grow quit a foot higher (one can hope). But from my experience it's always best to be prepared and plan for the worst case.

Yeah I'm pretty old lol, which means I'm always expecting the worst to happen. That way I'm do damn happy when my worst expectation isn't realized. Haha

unfortunately you were spot on this time i have determined it was a timer I am pretty devastated right now not going to lie, not sure how to proceed they are so damn tall right now i dont know if i will get the height i need. I just split one trying to see how much bend i had. and i think the main branches are too thick to super crop. Oh i could cry

I would advise you to avoid trimming them (cutting off the tops of branches), unless you're willing to continue veg for another couple week. You'll just get a bunch of weak side branches which will grow a bunch of weak little buds instead of fat colas. If you need to, sacrifice some colas because the tent is full already, then do monster cropping or tie them down.

Glad you caught it and don't feel like an "idiot" at all...It has happened to many! Me included!! I personally wouldn't trim anything from the top, just re-train them as needed...You'll be ok, you just lost a little time is all.

This is a great idea...If you can post a link to what you're using I'd appreciate it, as would others I'm sure!!

I just got saved by a wireless water monitor I have Christmas morning....we had flooding issues in this area and i got woke up at 3:30am to water entry in my basement, and was able to divert a big mess. This was also about $50 and a gift from my buddy just a month ago...it already saved my ass!!

How much vertical room do you physically have left if your lights are all the way up? TBH, I've had colas pass the lights before on some of my prior screwups, and the colas were growing past the lights and touching the top of the tent (7' high). It didn't seem to cause those colas issues though. They didn't get light since they grew above the lights, but were huge and dense anyway. Just aim them away from getting burned against the lights as they stretch. Not much more you can do at this point I think.
