2x Mars TSL2000 - 4ft vertical space - Suggestions?

So I'm planning on getting myself 2 Mars Hydro TSL2000's for next run.

We have basically unlimited horizontal space but only 4ft of vertical space (Micro grows woot)


Currently debating between what type of plants we should grow - auto or photo
And how many we should put under the lights - 4? 6?


What would you suggest?

Skip those lights.

For your space you want a Fluence Spydr 2i

That light can run at 6 - 12 inches from the canopy where other lights need to be much farther away. So with your vertical space limitation you want a light that is designed to be ran close.

I despise autos, never as potent as a photo. They are retards and I won't advise anyone grow them when you can always start a photo seed in 12/12 or flip it after a few weeks.

Interesting on those lights - I've never heard of them. I'm assuming since you are recommending them that they are of good quality (I've seen you around and you seem to know your stuff).

As far as auto vs photo - I've been doing some reading on the topic. It seems like the major advantage of photo's are the ability to clone and the ability to veg as long as you want.

We aren't currently participating in cloning (I've read each time you take a clone it will have about 80% of the yield capabilities). And because of our height limitation we aren't vegging them out to be monsters.
This is why I was considering autos - smaller plants with a quicker turn around.

After reading your comment though it seems I need to give the topic even more thought. Do you think 12/12 from start or a short veg will produce better/similar results when considering yield per days?

Yes. One can build a similar light for less but Fluence makes a quality product. When looking at LED lighting never go cheap, you get what you pay for.

Thats complete bullshit. Cloning doesn't reduce yield potential at all. Autos aren't a quicker turn around than starting a photo under 12/12, how much you veg a photo is up to you, with an auto you just gotta let it do it's thing and it may end up taller than you wish. Because auto's use ruderalis genes to force flowering, these genes bring undesirable characteristics.

The key to growing in a short space is training, using a trellis (not the string shit but good strong plastic trellis like Horti-Trellis). If you for example let a plant veg til 4 - 6 nodes, then top or FIM it, then allow the resulting branches grow straight up a few feet, then slide down a trellis and spread those branches out sideways under the trellis making the plant fill your horizontal space in all directions. Those nodes will pop and those branches will be your resulting colas. If you flip before those nodes pop it will greatly reduce your stretch.

Okay just looked the Fluence up - super high quality, with the price to match! Little out of my budget right now to drop on some lights. One of the nice things about the Mars TSL2000's was that I could get 2 for under $600.

The extra space would be nice, but is the footprint large enough to take advantage of keeping them only 6 inches from the plant? And are they so much better to justify double the price per area?

Curious on these lights, as I just purchased 1 Mars Hydro and 1 Spider Farms LED to compare. I wish I would have stumbled on this thread beforehand. Renfro, what is the most considerable difference between the 3 lights? I can see the (µmol/J) is considerably higher, and they have some interesting ideas on spectrum's, but either I am too inebriated or I cannot find the right analysis on the nm of the lights. Would like to read more into this though. Do you have anymore info on the subject?

I got two viaspectra 250w full spec leds for 430$

Great quality build and bright, all the same values 2.7 u j mol and 1700 ppf, can hang vertically , horizontal any which way ur mind can think of/and u can handle vent heat


First time indoor so my advice might not b best but at the moment until I can afford a Beemer benz or Bently gavita, lux, fluence spydr, amare bar 8. $ 1200 to $2200 , im going to settle with Hyundai or genesis (leds) as supplemental to main cmh


I use led as supplemental to main cmh plus mh/hps
