Sick Seedlings

Not sure whats wrong with 2 of my seedlings.

Using tsl2000 hung at 24" on 75% Light is on 24/7
Biobizz light mix compost.
No feed yet only water.

Norther Lights/Cheese

I started this grow on 24/7 light to keep environment stable, not sure if this is my problem but i can drop down too 20/4 with out a any temp problems.

First 2 seem healthy but the other 2 have big problems.

My guess. Add some calmag or cal magic to your water. 2.5ml per gallon. Either brand. With cal magic being the stronger of the two.

As for light. At that stage. 16k-17k lux.


The last two seedlings are stunted. They'll be behind the others by 3 days growth. They'll be the smallest plants compared to the others. No matter what you do.

Would you give them all some calmag, also i have no idea what lux as i don't have a lux meter.

I'm not worried if they become smaller plants just want to understand whats going on since i moved to led. Last year i grow 15/20 plants under hps with no problems at all like this, since i moved over to led i've had nothing but constant seed failures. this is my 3rd attempt at getting seeds going, first failing due to rich compost.

All i can think right now is how much money ive wasted on new lights and seed after seed after seed...

Cal-Mag is required for led. From the first water till the last. Every watering gets a dose.

I use an Extech led lux meter. I also consider it a requirement.

Ive ordered a lux meter. 2/3 days ago they where looking so healthy praying to the God's.

Just given them all a light dose of calmag, I knew it was needed more but had no idea it was required like that.

Thank you. Would you think 0.5ml per litre right the way through the grow would be a good start.... just as a guide.

Veg lux starts at 13,500(sprout). 16,000-18,000 lux after the true leaves appear and get a good form. Working up as it grows to a max lux of 24,000. 18/6

During flower(12/12). Walk the lux by 10% per day until you reach about 45,000 to 50,000 lux. Full blown flower during the last three weeks. You can touch 65,000 to 70,000 lux. Keep your light about 2' from the tippy top of the cola.

Be careful running 65,000-70,000 lux. It runs the plants pretty hard. Plus its an incredible amount of light. You'll need sunglasses being in the room or looking at the plants. Safety glasses with green lenses. The kind you use with a gas cutting torch.

Don't fuck your eyes.

Research 'umol' and 'ppf'.

It deals with how much energy you send at the plant per hour. Plants need so much but not too much.

It doesn't matter its auto flower. It stills need an amount light over a time period.

LEDs can get deep.

Don't worry about spectrum until after you can get a couple successful grows. Then you can think about the fine tuning.

Ok just trying to sum up everything you've said to deal with the issue in hand.

From what i gather too much light a no cal-mag has been my issue?

No idea on light because currently, you can't measure it.

The brown spots are a cal-mag issue. Extremely common growing with LED.

Another thing you need to watch is leaf surface temperature. The LST of those plants need to be between 74°F to 77°-78°F. To get a 78°F leaf temperature. The air temps inside the grow area need to be 83°-84°.

You'll see. I keep a written journal. I record every move I make. If I'm unsure about something. I pull a journal out and ask myself. If you want to grow weed like you see in the seed advertisement. Stuff that'll spin your head. Pay attention to the details and keep a log.

Add low temp to the issue too. As room temp has been 24c-26c, meaning LST has been low. Makes sense as i thought the soil felt a bit cool.

Don't let them get colder then 20°C leaf surface. It'll stunt them.

You're going to need an IR thermometer.

Soil is crap

I see approching nute burn and with no nutes used so far ...then more perlite should be added

I'd extract add 30% perlite to that mix then re pot keep them back from the lights until re settled

IR temp gun ordered, For now i've shut one carbon filters off to bring the air temp up to 28c/83f.
I've been using a desk fan to cool the Light, that's probably been reducing LST a lot. Now turned off.

Oil Heater on a controller. 1500 watt can warm quite a bit of space. Like it all, there's math.

Wattage needed per cubic feet. With mine, I need 750 watts. The oil heater has three settings. 1500watt, 900, and 600. I use the 900watt with a plug in room temp controller.

Don't restrict air flow. You need all you can get.

Its been 4 hours now since i raised the light to 30" Gave them a shot of calmag and increased the temp to 83f/28c and i'm seeing them perk up, praying to the goods again. Bit early to tell but they seem to have woke up some what.
