Humidifier during winter

Check your air flow, people tend to go overboard and the airflow is so good it doesn't allow it to get humid. I reduced the outflow and literally watched the humidity raise. I hung a wet hand towel for a few days to establish a good environment, now it's all airflow. My out is adjustable, my in isn't so I just restrict the in with something until I get the 55-60 that my plants are digging right now. Hope it helps. This is what is working for me. You know your situation and setup. Play with it, research it, and make it apply for you. Forum like this is awesome but there's 15000 answers for every question, so now you got to figure out who is right. You got this. Please let us know what happens and show us your setup. Once your plants have some decent size to them they should keep the humidity up all on their own.

I hang hot wet towels all around my grow area and one inside my tent near the plants for added humidity on top of a 24/7 running humidifier. Everything has to be maintained EVERYDAY to keep a higher consistent humidity.
My plants are young, like 2 weeks old... And i never let the RH go under 60. I maintain RH 70. If you give your plants no means of pulling water out of the air , with a low RH - under 40, You are then forcing them to drink virtually entirely through the soil. And if your soil is not perfect, your plants will not enjoy what they are drinking and show it.
Just my theory on how i keep my plants happy.

I think your overthinking it. Plants arent pulling any humidity out of 60rh air. Yeah you're prolly right. I've seen others do the same with similar results too with low RH's. So i was always wondering, is it the strains that tolerate low humidity. You're tent has a lot of plants in there too so im sure the humidity they put off after watering is decent. Where i have 1 plant in a 2x2x6 and prolly too much air circulation is my prob so i needed higher humidity.

Nah i have a lot of circulation. Humidity might jump to 40 after watering now that the tent is really full.... But usually stays 35 or less. I only run seed and its always a big variety.

Low RH feed less and they are fine. Talking hydro nutes for that tho. Soil is basically self-regulating that way. Can even accelerate growth if lots of light and other good conditions. My grow room is doing 60% now but only because all I have going in there is a 400W MH so it's not getting warm enough to trigger my exhaust fan. Also two 14" plant pans with water in them and a small humidifier on a timer set to do 15 min on then 15 off plugged into my light timer so it only runs when the light is on.
RH right now in the mancave is 14%. Really dry here in the winter.

No problem bud, I hope it works, I tend to learn from my mistakes A LOT. I have one plant that is strictly my experimental plant. Just to try out other peoples methods and see what I like and don't. Good luck bud.

It's a tent 1.2m x 1.2m I think or 1.5m I'm not too sure. And I have a carbon filter and all that stuff going, I've got a 600watt hps bulb dimmed to 400watts and outside it's winter right now I think that's my problem because the cold air is coming in and mixing with the hot air. I'm going to buy a Humidifier tomorrow and hopefully raise my humidity to 50%. I'm using small 1 litre plant pots as well so that's probably not helping. When I come to transplant them to 10 litre plant pot in a few weeks that will hopefully increase the humidity

What I have going right now is a cheap humidifier with a dial switch on it hooked up to a timer. The dial switch is important because if it is a button operated model it might not automatically turn on when the timer turns back on.

I have it set to always be on at the lowest setting hooked up to a timer to turn it off when lights go out. I hover between 50-60 percent humidity and I’ll be adjusting the timer accordingly once flowering takes off.
Having proper humidity and temperature is important because you want to have an ideal VPD to ensure your plants are transpiring correctly. Too high or too low humidity can mess with transpiration which messes with nutrient uptake and air exchange. Here is the VPD chart I’ve been using:

People get a little to caught up in that chart. Low humidity is best. 30% is just fine for all stages of growth. The only thing low humidity does is make them drink more water. As long as your not way overfeeding them, no problems. High humidity on the other hand= mold and complete crop loss.
“If VPD is too large, the plant stomata will close in an attempt to limit transpiration, which can result in issues like tip burn and leaf curl.” Decreased transpiration will limit water uptake from the grow medium.
I can agree that people can get too caught up in charts, but at the same time those charts can help a lot. A plant in veg can still grow at 30%, but it isn’t going to grow as well as a plant at ideal humidity conditions. Mold and bud rot won’t be an issue until his plants start flowering at which point 30% would be good
