Early flower defoliation, lollipoping? When should I do this?

This room was defoliated numerous times.......the heaviest at week 3 in flowering which was probably a bit late and reduced the final size of the largest colas. IMO, the heaviest defoliation should be made at the very end of veg or the beginning of flowering. Then in weeks 3-5-7 you can strategically remove the largest of the leaves, and/or leaves blocking light to bud sites.

I'm new to LED's but have grown under HPS for 30+ years. You are looking at 1/2 the room, there is another equal side to the room. So two 4 x 4 sq. ft spaces each under a Gavita 1700e LED. My 1st grow I got 106 oz (2.3 GPW), the crop above is not done and has about 12 days to go and I expect a lesser yield this time, maybe in the 80+ oz range. If you do a google search of "sshz and gavita", both grow diaries will show up.

I actually think, with the right strain, higher numbers are possible......... my next grow I'm doing Irie Seeds Bebop, which is a heavy yielder too and hoping for a 10% increase, which would take me to a 2.5 GPW. I like a challange to keeps things interesting.
