Best type of Cloner?

I'm at the point I'm ready to add some sort of cloning system to my rotation. I've been looking into making my own out of a 17 or 27 gallon tote, using sprayers like an aero cloner. I have also recently been looking at the oxyclone but I dont really know what the real world differences between them have been.

I'm unsure about using airstones, I know that waterfall methods can be a nice solution to create oxygenated water as well, and might be an option.

If anyone who has tried either, or both could weigh in on the benefits and complications they have experienced I'd appreciate that.

I'm not opposed to spending money on a prebuilt unit, but I need to keep it under $100 budget wise. The more I can save the. Better though, it's more I can put into other upgrades.

Can you tell us what kind of grow your doing ? if it's Hydro or Soil Medium ?

IMHO I've been doing mine in a Igloo Cooler solo cups and some HP Pro Mix. But I have used a water sprayer on with an air stone, but I didn't like it they took kind of long depending on the Heat used.

So if your in Soil of Hydro will make the decision easier in soil I would go with Solo cups and a cooler with plexiglass lid if Hydro then I thinks it called an easy cloner. I just had a harder time with the aero or easy cloner than with the Solo cups, But my medium is HP Pro Mix.

There is no best cloner. There are just different methods of cloning. Success can be had with all. I made a cloner years ago. It worked great. But I don't want the hassle of dealing with sprayers, pumps, and a tub of water so I clone in coco now. I get the same excellent results and it's much less complicated. Just prepare coco, fill small nursery pot, make hole, insert clone, wait for roots. It's easy, takes up less space, and makes moving clones around easier. But if you're doing hydro and using hydroton then a water cloner is the best choice.

Here's a 24 site 18 gallon tote cloner I made years ago. It worked great. It cost well below $100. More like $35. It's now sitting in the garage filled with all my old water and air pumps from when I was doing multiple flood and drain tables and DWC buckets. I'm thinking of putting it on my patio and using it to grow lettuce.

I have 3 aero cloners, all ezcloner brand. I used them for many years. Thing is with them is when shit goes bad it goes downhill quickly. I learned to clone using a humidity dome back in 99. So now I'm back at using humidity dome with HP Promix and a touch of FFOF. Humidity domes never break or get infected or need much matinence. Just stick it where the light hits it enough to warm it up inside dome to create moisture evaporating inside dome to where you see condensation on dome and 10-14 days clones are usually ready to go. Aero clones are faster but overall after almost 10 years of using aero I prefer the tried and trusted humidity dome more.

I've been looking at a lot of them recently and found the Oxyclone to be the best, or should i say looks to be the best method.

I don't like the idea of nozzles which can get blocked spraying high pressure against all the roots.

It seems much more gentle and use's heavily oxygenated water with micropore air diffusers and as a result less heat.

I'm just about to finish building mine, will post a thread once done but yeah they look really good.

Oh and a heat mat depending on temps.
