He believes believing it makes it true. Can’t admit to himself he lost. When Pat Robertson said Trump lives in an alternative reality many people laughed comsidering the source but the difference between them is that Pat doesn’t believe his own bullshit. Pat thought they were doing the same thing, conning people, but ended up realizing Trump’s on a whole ‘nother level of delusional. The rest is by-product. There’s no method to his madness.
I think that is part of it, but a bigger part is going to prison, being perp walked, pleading in front of a judge (God forbid a black woman! o_O ), being muzzled by court order and being jailed for violating it during pretrial. Donald knows there is gonna be humiliation and exposure for who and what he is, a moron, every step of the way to the cell door. Once they get Donald in a cell, he's never getting out again, I think he will violate his conditions of bail or release, namely a gag order and end up in a NY jail awaiting his trial as individual #1 in the SDNY.

All the adults left the room. "John Kelly says he told Trump a 'yes man' would get him impeached"

Trump just believes the people feeding back his lies and people just went along with it otherwise they were fired. Then people that believe his rhetoric get in positions of power and the thing snowballs. The thing that really concerned me is that a representative let the people into the capital building (no longer be charged with breaking in but could be part of a conspiracy), the security that went along with it, the officials Trump put in place last month that did not authorize the National Guard to get their gear, the party watching events unfold.

Everything that would be a coup in another third world country. The only problem is the idiots did not know what to do once they were there except take selfies. No thought to what the goal was and if they could even change things. Kind of how I think Trump's mind works.

Simple truth is, Trump can/could/should be impeached for a few dozen things, righteously and deservedly so. His real get-out-of-jail card has been the compliance of McConnell’s senate - their refusal to rein in their pet bill-signer - and their refusal to remove him upon impeachment - has left him with a lifetime of prison sentences waiting for him.

Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it and eventually they will believe it and you will believe it, too. -Nazi playbook.

Pompeo says U.S. not a 'banana republic' amid fallout from attack on Capitol
“In a banana republic, mob violence determines the exercise of power,” he continued. “In the United States, law enforcement officials quash mob violence so that the people’s representatives can exercise power in accordance with the rule of law and constitutional government.”

Former President George W. Bush used the term “banana republic” in his statement condemning the violence that took place at the Capitol. Bush, the 43rd president of the U.S. and a Republican, said in a statement that the scenes of violence were “sickening and heartbreaking,” and “This is how election results are disputed in a banana republic — not our democratic Republic. ”

Pompeo further said that lawmakers returning to a joint session of Congress to carry out the task of certifying the election results later Wednesday evening after the Capitol was secure, “represents a victory for the rule of law & constitutional government in America.”

US diplomats urge State Department to denounce Trump role in Capitol riot
About 100 State Department officials have reportedly signed onto a "dissent cable" calling for Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to forcefully condemn President Trump for inciting the violent mob attack on the Capitol Wednesday.

The four-point cable, which was obtained by The Washington Post, lays out Trump’s responsibility for fomenting the riot in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying the election results for President-elect Joe Biden

The cable calls for the State Department to explicitly denounce Trump in the vein of statements issued by the agency against foreign leaders who use violence and intimidation to suppress peaceful democratic processes.

"President Trump's incitement of violence against the certification of the United States' free and fair elections is unacceptable and incompatible with our laws, the democratic values and protected fundamental freedoms enshrined in our founding documents, and our long tradition of a peaceful and orderly transfer of power," the cable reads.

"Just as we routinely denounce foreign leaders who use violence and intimidation to interfere in peaceful democratic processes and override the will of their voters, the Department's public statements about this episode should also mention President Trump by name. It is critical that we communicate to the world that in our system, no one — not even the president — is above the law or immune from public criticism."

Pompeo, America’s top diplomat, has denounced the violence at the Capitol and called for prosecution of the rioters. But he did not assign blame, in particular to the president, who is being widely condemned as responsible for the attack.

The secretary has pushed back against criticisms that the insurrection constituted a democratic crisis, condemning “journalists and politicians” who “slander” the U.S. as a “banana republic,” a phrase used to describe a fragile and corrupt country ruled by a plutocracy.

American Insurrection at The Capitol
What happened on January 6th was an American tragedy. But one that was entirely preventable. This isn't normal. Warning: Contains opinion.

Biden backs Trump decision not to attend inauguration, calling him an 'embarrassment'
President-elect Joe Biden on Friday said that he was glad that President Trump would not attend his inauguration later this month, calling the president an “embarrassment” who is unfit to serve.

“It’s a good thing, him not showing up,” Biden told reporters in Wilmington, Del. The remarks represented a reversal for Biden, who last month said that it was important for the country that Trump attend the inauguration.

“He has exceeded even my worst notions about him. He has been an embarrassment to the country, embarrassed us around the world. Not worthy, not worthy to hold that office,” Biden continued.

“If we were six months out, we should be doing everything to get him out of office – impeaching him again, trying to invoke the 25th amendment, whatever it took to get him out of office,” Biden said. “But I am focused now on us taking control as president and vice president on the 20th and to get our agenda moving as quickly as we can.”

Biden later said that Vice President Pence was “welcome” to come to the inauguration, describing it as an “honor” to have him there. He said the two have not spoken; Pence is expected to attend in some capacity.
