Dominion Voting Systems files $1.3B defamation lawsuit against pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell
Dominion Voting Systems on Friday filed a defamation lawsuit against pro-Trump lawyer Sidney Powell for claiming without evidence that the voting machine company rigged the 2020 presidential election for President-elect Joe Biden by manipulating votes.

Dominion is seeking $1.3 billion in damages and an order from the court for Powell to cease making false statements about it.

"The recent attacks on the democratic process are not singular or isolated events," Dominion CEO John Poulos said on a call with reporters Friday morning. "They are the result of a deliberate and malicious campaign of lies over many months. Sidney Powell and others created and disseminated these lies, assisted and amplified by a range of media platforms.

"Lies were told about government election officials, election workers and dominion voting systems," Poulos continued. "Those lies have consequences. They have served to diminish the credibility of U.S. elections. They have subjected officials and Dominion employees to harassment and death threats. They have severely damaged the reputation of our company. Today is just the first step to restore our good name, and faith in elections by holding those responsible to account."

Maybe not. There are problems with doing it. What they could do is a backroom deal with the republican, play nice in Biden's first term and we will let him run out his term.

It would be a fatal mistake to try anything like what happened at the Capital on the 19th, it would be seen as a threat to the continuity of government and the response would be quick and deadly. They are gonna be detaining these clowns as they hit town and cleaning up those that are there now. Most of these racist fucks are scared shitless now that the magnitude of their crimes is starting to dawn on them, if they were on video in the building or on the grounds they are fucked and facing federal time.

Donald Trump's Potential Criminal Liability for Inciting a Riot on January 6

There is now much discussion surrounding possible criminal liability for Donald Trump for the property damage, injuries and deaths resulting from the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. As a former career prosecutor in Washington DC, I often had to work though challenging charging decisions applying doctrines such as co-conspirator liability, the DC felony-murder laws, aiding and abetting liability, etc. Sometimes it helps to break things down into simple, concrete hypotheticals to help answer complex questions of criminal liability. So here goes . . .

I burst out laughing, Laughing in disbelief.

Poll: Majority of Republicans blame Biden for mob storming the Capitol
A majority of Republican voters surveyed in a new YouGov Direct poll believe that President-elect Joe Biden is to blame for the group of President Trump’s supporters who stormed the Capitol Wednesday.

The poll, which surveyed nearly 1,450 registered voters on the events at the Capitol, found that among Republicans, 52 percent identified Biden as the biggest culprit, rather than Trump himself.

Comparatively, just 26 percent of Republican voters blamed the president for inciting the violence, while another 26 percent pointed fingers at congressional Republicans who vowed to block the official tally of Biden's presidential win.

Despite the view of Biden’s responsibility among a large portion of Republicans, a majority of all voters surveyed in the YouGov poll, 55 percent, said that Trump is “a great deal to blame.”

Republicans were also divided in their support for Wednesday’s events, with 45 percent of registered GOP voters saying they actively supported the actions of the demonstrators, with 43 percent opposing.

Among all voters, nearly two-thirds, or 63 percent, said they “strongly” opposed the actions of those who stormed the Capitol, and 62 percent said they viewed the events as a threat to democracy.

While 59 percent of voters who were aware of Wednesday’s events at the Capitol said they viewed them as more violent than peaceful, 58 percent of Republicans said the opposite, believing the actions of protesters were largely peaceful.

Among voters surveyed in YouGov’s poll, 50 percent agree with immediately removing Trump from office, while 42 percent see such a move as inappropriate. Meanwhile, 85 percent of Republicans strongly oppose the move.

I know it was brought up before but I really think they might, and should do it on principle for future governments.
Pelosi says House will move forward with Trump impeachment motion if he doesn't resign

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement on Friday that the House is prepared to move forward with articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump in the wake of the violence at the U.S. Capitol if he does not resign.

“It is the hope of Members that the President will immediately resign. But if he does not, I have instructed the Rules Committee to be prepared to move forward with Congressman Jamie Raskin’s 25th Amendment legislation and a motion for impeachment," she said. "Accordingly, the House will preserve every option — including the 25th Amendment, a motion to impeach or a privileged resolution for impeachment."

Asked how early the House Judiciary Committee could bring the articles to the floor, Clark said, "That will be...as early as mid-next week."
