Ive got two strains that in hydro that stretch a lot,I have them both in my soil and I got maybe 3" of stretch (28 days now).Hydro would have been 15-20".Same room, lights. Why so much difference?I do notice tighter node spacing.

Maybe cold water. What temp was the hydro water?

Last time I potted up I used two 3 gallon and two 4 gallon. Potting up from a 2 gal. I guess the 4 gallon pots had a lot more nitrogen because they stretched all over my tent.

Do you have a pic of the plant?
The dirt one is pale coloured ,light green,I made the move last weekend and fed it hydro nutes, top dressing wasn't keeping up.
Yeah I cheated,shes a heavy feeder I guess.
But I also have some other soil plants that didnt stretch as much, their green and healthy.

I have an HPS in with my led so will have to wait till dark for a pic.

This is because when nature gets the wheel the plant genetic potential has a better chance at getting close to100%.
It’s. It not about more of this or that. Organic soil grown will grow faster and bigger and healthier. ( less chance of pathogen or pest) less “fluff”, more flavor, and potency. Well you can seee I’m biased lol. But the bigger stretch was something I specifically remember when flipping. Are you using alfalfa in your mix?

This is just my opinion:

I believe that hydro plants grow big root mass faster than soil plants. It may take 2-3 weeks for a soil plant to grow enough roots to fill a 1 gallon pot and hold all the dirt together. A plant in a dwc setup might grow that many roots in a few days.

I think that all these roots give hydro a head start in veg and allow for rapid growth or stretch in the transition.

I know you can get big plants, huge root mass and big stretch in soil, I just think it takes an extra week or two to develop the root mass to support the big growth.
