I just planted 1/2 -3/4 inch down. That misting was bad thoughI would not mist or water them until they pop up for now. Hopefully you didnt plant too deep. Whats the soil look like
I agree with the 18 hr max. Most likely you drowned them and killed them before placing in soil.
I'd recommend NOT letting seeds sit in water for more than 18hrs. When they sink they have absorbed as much water as they can and now need to be planted or placed on a moist paper towel to germinate. Once they "stick their tongue out" its time to plant them taproot down.
If you do this you SHOULD have sprouts within 3 days.
Yes I forgot to mention you dont HAVE to use paper towel. As long as they sink you're good.I agree with the 18 hr max.
However there is no need to get it to crack before you plant it in the soil.
Just get the seed to sink, and plant it.
Once it sinks that means water has gotten inside and the process has begun.
The longer left in the water the more of a chance of drowning the seed before even planting it.
I stopped using the paper towel long ago when my tap roots grew into them. Not a fan of that bullshit lol.Yes I forgot to mention you dont HAVE to use paper towel. As long as they sink you're good.
I actually prefer to plant once the tongue comes out because then I know they're all good.
I basically label my paper towel and then try to pop all mine within 24hr of each other that way they're the same age.
That way works as well. Ive waited till they sink. Set alarms for 12h and 18hr tap them at 12h and when they sink just sow them basically produces same time results as germinating outside of the soil but there's no risks involved with just sowing after sinking. Because you know if it did sink then within 3 days or so you should have a sprout. Theres too many methods for such a simple ideaI stopped using the paper towel long ago when my tap roots grew into them. Not a fan of that bullshit lol.
My germination rate is just as good as anyone else's and I don't have to deal with the bs of being gentle.
I skip a step and get the same results as everyone else.
Wait for seed to sink. Plant in starter soil in a solo cup, water, and keep it 78 degrees.
So simple.
But to each his own. Everyone likes to do shit different ways and I applaud that.
