Extreme weather help. Temp control

hello everyone, first time grower here, just built a 2 ft by 2 ft and 3 feet tall grow box. I’m having to grow in the garage and I live in an area with the two extreme weather, summer time it can get to about 90 degrees to 100 on some days and in the winter it can snow. How would you set up the ventilation system to run in both high heat and cold conditions? Keep in mind This is a budget grow box only way I could convince the wife to do this lol. I plan to line the inside with styrofoam then cover it with Mylar to help with insulation issues. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Keep it simple. Don't try to set up an All season grow box.
Iron out the wrinkles in front of you currently.
If it's cold, work on getting heat in the tent. If it's that cold...
Don't set it up in the garage.

Budget friendly fix:
Winter time... grow inside.
Summer time.. grow outside.

Whatever your monthly budget towards bills is. You might try sliding her a "weed tax".

Extra money goes to her only when you're growing. The more you grow. The more money she gets.

She has to see and receive a benefit to you growing weed. Especially if she smokes.

So basically kiss her ass until she lets you use a walk in closet or a tent.

That'll fix your temperature issue.

Great idea about tax. Ihave the same issues, however, i built with crap and thats what I have. The herb is great, its just slower, especially in colder weather. ive 1 now, and its sub zero, but in the tent swings as slow as 16 at the dirt. summer gets too hot ( but if you run fans and such.) what i did was run an extra intake from the cooler air elsewhere. its getting a redo, but good luck .

On a budget in winter maybe go with a 250w hps for the heat and stick with a shortish auto so your light is on 18-20hours and add a 40-60w 2ft tube heater for the dark cycle to take the chill out the air. A heat matt on a thermostat is very useful for keeping root zone warm if you can fit it in your budget.
Come summer when its warm switch to a 120w Quantum board (save up) or similar LED, instantly shaving your heat in half.
Add in a manual variac speed controller so you can set your fan speed low in winter and ramp it up in summer, you will need ventilation 24/7 to remove humidity , I say manual variac because they are considerably cheaper and your on a budget.

Cheap and effective in a shed in MI. A $30 oil filled radiator will also warm a 1 - 1.5 stall garage above danger levels in upper 20's F.

I wonder if the opposite logic could be used during summer. put the plants directly on the cement floor which regardless of air temps should stay right around 68. this could help keep root zone cooler to offset higher ambient temperature. no clue if it will work but seems like a cheap fix.

Yes it is as wondered. I would just go outside in summer. Top and tie to stay low profile thing. Hedges don't look like weed.

biggest plant i ever grew back in the day was in a flowerbed full of mushroom compost, trained and staked the plant arms with those metal croquet hoops. that thing turned into an octopus that was no taller than 3 ft. almost 1.5lbs at harvest.

What I'm saying. Only legal starting year 3 here. Had people visit and compliment my landscaping with no clue when frowned upon. LMAO. Everyone pictures this.

the most stealth grow i ever saw was an old section of lattice just leaned up against the side of a shed. plants in pots went behind the lattice. scrog plant through the holes. decorate w a few fake flower blossoms. harvest a wall of golf ball nugs in the fall. no one had any clue it was weed.

Agree with the bottom heating. The plant above ground can take it including multiple light freezes. Listen to this guy ^^

You can buy bigger warming pads at pet supply places for outside dog houses. They’re heavy duty and waterproof.

Concrete heat pads for curing if massive. LOL.

Try and get an air conditioning unit outside of your tent if you can, that will suck cold air into your room and lower your temps a lot. Spend about 200 dollars on a small ac unit for the Summer. And in the winter use a small humidifier to keep your humidity up
