Hi guys, I've been growing with FoxFarm products but been wanting to switch for a while now. I love Mr. Chanuks youtube channel but I cant find gaia green in the US and I just cant justify the shipping cost from Canada so came across Dr. Earth and this thread:

PS: I think they discontinued the seaweed extract, would this be a good substitute?

That's the closest I could find that says Kelp and not just seaweed.

Can you tell me a bit about your feeding schedule and soil preparation/amendment and how its different from the schedule that the owner sent to that dude in the other thread? Also do you make compost teas? The letter doesnt mention them.

There’s a guy on yt that has a special blend he calls it bio bud 29 or something like that. I know a few growers who use his formula.

I've been using this, which is derived from kelp, fish, and castings, plus has added benes. Good for both hydro and soil grows:

Sure that’s fine but it is a soluble fertilizer. Nothing wrong with that it’s just the title was dry amendments which are more of a slow release. Don’t skimp on the EWC/compost; you want an active soil mix with any of these organic ferts.

Thanks, and yea, if you check the feeding schedule from the owner of dr. Earth, he suggests 2 liquid fertilizers on top of all the dry amendments.

im not much for schedules, or measuring for that matter lol. I feed the neptunes a couple times during flower, but straight water about 90% of the time, tapwater run through a Zerowater filter, or bottled water if my filter isnt working fast enough.

I will usually just pour the amendments into a solo cup and stir em all together, adding that to some ocean forest soil before transplanting. As for the fresh worm castings, i measure those by the heaping handful, theres no such thing overdoing it with those imo.

I used to do teas but i recently got lazy and just topdress now, gotta say i dont see much of a difference.

Great @madvillian420 thanks. Not having to buy the 5 gallon bucket and air stones if not necessary will save time, effort and space (apartment).
I use ocean forest now, should I stick to it or try that medicinal soil from dr earth (info in the owner feeding schedule post I linked)?

Also was just looking at RO systems and not sure if it's worth it. I'm a little worried about my tap water and dont want to risk it. I read that some cities use chloramine instead of chlorine which will remain even after letting the water sit out. Not sure how to find out about my tap water quality...

If cost is a concern, get one of these 1611124716113.jpeg Comes with a TDS meter so you can be sure its working.

Ive used ocean forest for years, cant really speak on other brands.

I have a Brita, but just a regular small one. TDS meter sounds neat. I may try that or just get the RO for 140 I've been looking at on amazon. It would fit under my sink, but if it's not necessary, I could definitely use the $$ for something else
Edit: website says the zerowater filters dont break down chloramines very well. I don't know If that's in my water but it could be... its LA.

If you don't need a lot of output this one will save you a few bucks. I really like the HydroLogic company too.
