What happens if the main stem is cut off in veg?

OK so basically I am helping someone out with their first grow and I made it easy so they would just have to water. I did the first topping last week. and then went away and came back today to check. well turns out this person thought they could do it themselves after seeing me top it last week and has now removed the 2 branches that was sprouting on the main stem!!! I am not happy about this! lol. I am assuming things will now slow down considerably! as there's no growth now just 2 nubs where there should be branches but with no growth on them! Is it best to let them keep going as they are approaching week 4 of veg now? or is it better to just scrap it and start again at this point? They need a flush anyways, overwatering or something too. getting nutrient burn even though its a light dose. somethings going wrong its all over the place!

Try to help people but its so frustrating!!! lol water once a day with a pre made nutrient mixture! I mean how hard is it!? xD

I suspect that if all of the growth nodes were removed, it's a lost cause.
If there are other growth nodes, they should develop.

there is just 2 underbranches... it was topped on the 3rd node. just 2 side branches remained. but there's been problems the whole way along its took like 6 weeks to get to the stage where they look like 4 weeks and just so much incompetence! lol

But obviously, because the main stem grows the biggest and best buds... this means the side branching is never going to equate to what the plants would get to begin with right because of the lack of main stem? I know they will likely survive but the yield will be highly effected no? It's early veg still they could come back but I honestly don't know if its worth continuing with these or not..

Doesn't sound like it would be worth keeping. The two new main colas will not start to regrow and depending on the seed it might not have much horizontal growth. Defiantly not worth trying to grow as it would produce very little at best. Do you know what it is?

yes 1 was a white widow and 1 was a cookies gelato from royal queen seeds. I have a couple spare seeds. but the thing is there are 2 plants that were left alone and 2 that were in this condition. they are all over the place. so do you think its best to just scrap them all and start over? there is 1 plant that is doing well on 2 tops and its ok. its the best of the lot. a few issues but a flush and a nice feed it should bounce back. but maybe just best to start over because of the timings of everything now right? I can't have 1 plant that's 4 weeks in front of a seed. its just too much of a difference...

If you are really wanting to start growing the next set right now then you would have to scrap them. 4 weeks is two big of a difference for me. I would try those two remaining ones to see if what you can do with them. Just let the veg alittle longer before flowering. I could still have a solid grow. Especially since he will be handling them more and might make more mistakes.

Well if you decide to scrap them you can still flower the good 1 just move it into a dark place every night after 12 hours and leave the others 18 6

yeah I said to just leave the F**K alone and water once a day that's it! xD but might have to start anew. I know that you could probably veg the two plants but the trouble is as they were all different strains now its just destroyed the variety basically. and they are not in the best shape, its in coco coir but I'm sure its been overwatered. the leaves are looking burnt on the undergrowth and the food is not even that strong. i thought maybe at first it might need to need a boost as they are getting into further veg stage as i was going there but when i seen them they look in bad shape lol.

That is not a bad idea. But I am not sure it would work. because I was planning to show him how to scrog a 4 x 4. veg about 8 weeks with multiple topping and put up the net when they are evenly full. if the remaining plants was on 8 weeks and 7 respectively because 1 is about 5 days behind. its uneven. and the rest 4 weeks into veg. then even moving it in and out, it would not be able to be scrogged and I don't know I just think maybe that's more hassle than its worth with the inconsistent nature of things

maybe I will let grow it to maybe 4 tops and flower it younger so it can be managed that way, at least something then and maybe end up with 1 extra and restart 4? Im not sure, I will think about it... good idea

but the bloom light is different to the vegging stage obviously... how will that turn out? because the others will have to veg...

These a 5 testers I'm running a pheno hunt.
All of them were topped at the 3rd node for a clone and flipped to flower.
These started in #1 pots during sexing and then into 3-gal fabric bags w/ coco/perlite.
They started at about 6" tall at flip and are almost 30" tall now(that's with some super-cropping).
This was a week ago-it's much chunkier now.
It'll still grow plenty of dank if you grow them.

cool. that's actually not bad. that helps. but what I'm likely to do is get them restarted. and maybe just get the 1 taken out that's in front out every 12 hours as said... let the others veg for 8 weeks while that 1 flowers...? but I will still have to use the veg light... I can't have the bloom light on for the sake of the other plants you see... so how would you think that would turn out and is it worth it? they are looking nice and chunky though. I would still say it needs a flush and a little revitalizing first though, the plant in question i mean. I guess a plan has to be sorted out but looks like these main stems are a lost cause then as I thought. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that but it is what it is. mistakes are made I guess

See if you can post a few pics of them in normal light so we can offer some insight.
Well here are some pics. I discussed restarting but the person in question flat out refused to do that so we are just continuing as is and seeing what happens lol. The good news is after a flush and back to a healthy watering schedule, the plants are looking healthier than ever now which is great but for sure there has been some stalling because of the errors. the 2 plants are now branching from their side stems, I am continuing to top them as needed and I guess we will just see what happens... going to veg these another 4 weeks still so should still get some decent sized plants but still... because its coming from side branching with no main stems I am assuming the yields on them will not be great. a couple of the other plants might make up for it but those were the strongest strains lol....

looks like a basic manifold after seeing pics . Let it recover appropriately before wrenching on them again.

To be clear the front 2 plants still have their main stems and are doing great though obviously the one on the right is about a week behind the other... its the 2 back plants that have lost their main stems, just overtaking with side branching but I have topped them again to get as much out of it as possible. they shall continue but tbh they don't look as bad as I thought they would of after seeing the damage last week. Hopefully things might turn out to be an ok run still... I guess we shall see...
