Sophomore jinx I guess. This grow is being a pain starting out. If I cover my netcup with a lid hydroton stays to wet plant drops and hates it. Keep it uncovered and I grow algae dont know what to do lol

Their plant droops when they cover the DWC netcup in hydroton, their rez grows algae when they do not cover the cups with hydroton? I think... GL OP
Yeah thats exactly it. Its a couple weeks old from seed single plant in a 10 gal dwc tote. same one I just had a successful grow in. The whole thing is nice and light proof except light makes it way down through the hydroton and then the algae grows and eats my nutes lol. So I cover the net pot with my diy covers and they hydroton gets wet and stays wet and plant gets all droopy and sad

No DWC expert here, but the ones who are here will probably want some pictures of the issues if you have any.

I think that there are additives to dissuade algae growth, and some folks add some h202 off the block to keep it sterile. Maybe look up proper dilution rates for your rez size and try that, keep the algae dead and the plants happy... (My advice with a chunk of rocksalt the size of a baby head)

Probably explain what yer doing better and some pics
I try to keep it simple just one plant (white rhino) tap water with filter about 55-65ppm 10 gal rez use calmag and gh trio nutes. Air pump and stone (new air stone)ph 5.5 -6.5. Use southern ag garden friendly fungicide for bennies. Same set up as I used on last grow. Didnt have this issue b4. Got new bennies coming maybe the one I have are no longer viable
