i meant my pics i posted to show where they are in growth.^LOL didn't look very carefully. In that picture they topped the plant when they lst'd to break apical dominance. You can do that too, but it isn't needed really if you just keep the tops level and/or start earlier..
My top was early but I started LST very late. Maybe a week before I flipped. No trouble at all, I used pipe cleaners.you did both in late veg? how late? did you have any trouble bending the branches?
i know appreciate the advice greatly since i am new to growing and i like getting information from multiple sources so i can choose a cool middle ground i can be happy with.Your plant will be VERY bushy this way and you may need to remove some shoots, but I always think it's better to remove extra shoots than the main shoot.
These are just my opinions and how I grow. Others will disagree and many of them are excellent growers. You gotta find what suits you
do you tie down everything or do you also use a Scrog method? In my opinion topping slows growth. I LST second week and keep up until second week of preflower. Works for me.
Yeah, I wrote that before I saw your post, but yes, you can start. It's early, but no reason not to start. Just don't force them too much. The plants are very resiliant though. Some times you do break a stem, but if it's not *completely* cut of there is anvery good chance it will heal it self, if you bandage it.i meant my pics i posted to show where they are in growth.
yup! You know it.Forget about topping and just lst away, but before bending the plant place a string in opposite direction for counter force. That way it won't bend from the soil level, but from higher up where you placed the string.
how much do you usually yield with just LST'ing?Yeah, I wrote that before I saw your post, but yes, you can start. It's early, but no reason not to start. Just don't force them too much. I've never topped a plant so I can't compare. I think I woild yield the same if I topped, but veg *might* take a bit longer. My yields have ranged from 150g to 450g in my 2x4 over the years.how much do you usually yield with just LST'ing?
Be gentle, with them. They don't need to bend upside down to start lst. I use twist ties and hook the top, support the stem and push tie into soil, will stay for a day or so but by then I need to reposition ties as she grows remove leaves that cover new growth or touch medium.Below are 2 pictures of my girls the bigger one is GDP and the small taller one is Pineapple Express (Both Fem and both Photoperiods)
GDP is starting week 3 of the seedling stage and PE is half way through week 2 of Seedling stage.
Can I top or LST or both these plants at this stage or should I wait until the Veg stage actually starts?
I ask because i am seeing alot of conflicting info online some say its ok to top in the seedling stage other say don't do it.
Any and all help would be appreciated.View attachment 4823144View attachment 4823145View attachment 4823146
your pic did not uploadI've never topped a plant so I can't compare. I think I woild yield the same if I topped, but veg *might* take a bit longer. My yields have ranged from 150g to 450g in my 2x4 over the years.
See how these plants are a kind of crown shape? They haven't been topped. Only LST*, yet no main top at all.
*Somewhat of hst actually in this one as I intentionally broke the branches to set them in angles I wanted.
thats what the idea was but now i think just LST'ing and Scrog might be the better optionIf you want to top and LST into a ScrOG, research Mainlining. It's just another technique for the toolbelt.
i am gonna tie them down to the fabric pot using binder clips until i can get some safety pins to secure them better.Be gentle, with them. They don't need to bend upside down to start lst. that is alot of bud sites! are you growing in Hydro , soil or Coco?
That is what lst does! Hydro, dwc.that is alot of bud sites! are you growing in Hydro , soil or Coco?
well hydro is best at getting big buds, i am growing in soil, mine won't look like that but it should be similar shaped haha. That is what lst does! Hydro, dwc.
It's all grower preference. I wait until a well established fifth node, clean out under four and break apical dominance.how early can you start to LST and tieing branches and the stems down? looking at my pics do you think i can LST either of them?
Better do lst. They will touch the walls even without topping lolwell the dimensions of the tent are 2.3 x 2.3 x 5.2 so do you think doing LST and topping, the plants will out grow the space? I need to LST PE because its a Sativa Dom and i want to it as short as possible.
