Pistils are turning orange at 5th week of flowering!

I'm growing with bubbleponics under CFLs and both my Blueberry and Skywalker's pistils are starting to turn orange. The site I bought the seeds from said the flowering period would be 8-9 weeks, but they're only in the fifth week right now.

Could something I'm doing wrong be causing this? Should I start flushing?

I wouldn't worry about it, just enjoy it! Keep your eye on the trichomes, and watch the calyx swell. The last part will go thru phases, the last one right in the final week or two.

There's a lot of variability in MJ. My girl is a 9-11 week strain right at 5 weeks. She's been rolling everything out with 10-20% amber trichomes :weed: from the start, which would be a criterion to harvest all by itself, but there's no way she's ready.

sometimes nute burn will cause that,but,I think the 5 or 6 weeks is when they start changing color,thats when I start my flush(just giving them water).

aye man. the pistils r not an indicator of ripeness. the tricromes r but u will need a magnification glass, or a mini microscope to actually get a good look.

yea the pistil color is kind of irrelevant. sometimes the trichome test is too. the calyx will look plump and fat when they are ready.

Yeah mine are crossing into 5 weeks with some red/orange.

One plant did hermi on me and nailed itself... though I don't know yet if it nailed any of the other plants... at least the other plants still have some white pistoles where as the hermi was all red/orange with leaves loosing color.

Yeah that will def happen with a hermie. But i have also had this happen to me where the pistils turned almost all orange with in 5 weeks of flowering give or take. I always say to look at ur trichs and calyxes. If ur calyxes are not blown up looking like they have seeds even dont cut em they aint ready.

Its normal for bud development to have it throw 3-4 different sets of new pistals. From week 3-9ish for indica. Each time the red/orange hair will recede into the calyxes. Then new pistals shoot out and it happens again and again. That's how buds build themselves up. Calyx stacking on more calyxes. Hope that helps :peace:

Mines is just in 5 weeks in bloom and look like on autopilot now bcn critical Xl on the left purple dawg middle Girl Scout cookies on the right this is my second grow not had any issues as of yet purple dawg grown much higher than other 2 grown in 7 litre airpots with biobizz all mix under a Mars hydro sp150 using biobizz grow...bloom...topmax...heaven also using cal mag molasses and monster bloom learning every day and all the stuff on here and other threads help tbh so anymore help is welcome every days a school day
