Which brand are you a FAN of?

Hey ya'll

Getting ready for the next run here, want to upgrade a few things, specifically for this thread the ventilation. No more box fan BS here bois. Looking to get a 6in fan setup for my 5x5x4 running 2x Mars Hydro TSL2000.

I've heard great reviews from my mentors here about Vortex VTX series fans.

I've heard great reviews from a friend about AC Infinity series fans.

Who wins in this war? I have read that the VTX series is better for static pressure.

I've noticed the AC Infinity Cloudline S6 has around 400CFM. Whereas the comparable (in price) Vortex VTX 600L has 293CFM. Is there a reason for the difference in CFM? Is it due to the sheer quality of Vortex, or maybe because Vortex handles static pressures better?

Just trying to wrap my head around this one. They are similar prices but the AC Infinity looks to be more appealing based on the given information (Higher CFM). AC infinity doesn't offer a CFM/Static Pressure chart like Vortex does so it is harder to compare, which is why I am asking you fine fellas.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Yep, it's all about the static pressure. A vortex type fan will pull air through a filter way better than an AC infinity, but whether that really matters much is up to your own temps/needs. I have an 8" AC infinity on my 4x4, but I'm planning on installing a filter and venting outside, so I just sized up but I could have gone with a vortex type fan. I like it a lot, I can move a ton of air even on the low settings which makes it very quiet.

I’ve got a second hand max fan that’s been going hard for over 6 years. Problem with max fans is that you can’t control the speed without a variac and those are pretty expensive. I just run mine 24/7 at 100%. It’s loud without a muffler tho

I use an S8" AC Infinity to service 2 tents. I am pleased and would buy again.

For a about $50 more the T series provides more controls.
Hey, thanks for your reply!

I was really interested in the T-series for the humidity/temp controller but I am seeing some things around the internet that some people are having issues with them not working properly or efficiently. Trying to do some more research on the topic as well.

I was looking at this kit a couple weeks ago, one of my Canadian friends here recommended it. Seems like one of those 'too good to be true' kits. How long have you been using the fan/kit combo?

The purpose of buying a fan is to use with a Filter. I work in a professional environment and absolutely need to not smell like some fire buds lol.

Just curious, where do you get your information from regarding the VFX being better at handling static pressures? Is it via personal experience or is there documentation online describing?

1.5+ years.
The fan looks and acts brand new. Can see it still hanging in the same spot 10 years from now.

Filter is good for about 6 months or so, but all of them wear out eventually.
Just buy a Phresh or Phat filter when the old one needs replacement and you won't need to worry about your extraction for a long, long time.

Do you have any experience with Can filters? I've heard good reviews about them. I was looking at Phresh but couldn't find one to accurately match the CFMs of the fan (VTX 600L)

Running a 4 inch Infinity in a 4x4 tent and haven't had any issues yet. So nice using this after using a hydrofarm 4 inch inline. My wife forgets the plants are even in the housel the sound difference is that much. Also with the difference in wattage the fan uses I can afford another for a new fresh air intake for flower. :weed:

My buddy gave me a 6” Canfan, it’s a bit overkill for my 4x4x6 tent. It’ll pull the sides in tight on setting one, but it absolutely rips heat and humidity out of the tent.

I’ve got one. It weighs a fuckin ton but I’m going on 1 year with it and it works just as well as the day I bought it. It’s a bit oversized for my space which means it doesn’t have to work as hard so it lasts longer.

I had a 6" exhaust and 6" intake but it wasn't enough, I had to upgrade the exhaust to a 8" but my tent is reallyy full

I run a sealed room, so the AC infinity works great for me.
How I run it, I have a 10x10 sealed room with my AC and Dehumidifier. This is my ambient climate
Then inside that room, I use a 8" exhaust and 6" intake AC infinity fans to make a micro climate in my 4x4 tent. My co2 monitor is inside the tent, and so is the AF infinity temp probe.

So the 10x10 room ill keep at a steady 75° and 35% humidity, then I set my AC infinity system to only kick on to bring the tent down to 83° and 60% for my micro climate then when it gets the tent there, it turns off.

I have a 4x5x6 grow space I built out. Nothing fancy. I have a 6" inline to cool my 1000w HPS. 8 inch can fan for exhaust, it REALLY moves some air. I also have a 6" intake that blows up from the floor through the canopy (softly). It's probably overkill, but it keeps humidity to 32% (week 6 of flower). I think ventilation is HUGE when growing in tight areas.

TD Silent are the business for pushing longer lengths of ducting and is only 33db, its a quality built fan.

The German made rvk ruck/manrose/system air are bomb proof fans for a reasonable price, they're good for mounting directly to the filter having a substantial impact on the noise.

A bigger fan than you need with a speed control gives you good ventilation with minimal noise.
