Needing help for first timer with lights

It looks like most of the China boards. Seems like a ok deal. You could get it cheaper buying off Alibaba if you are willing to wait. my biggest concern would be having no warranty.
Im not sure if this light is great for the space. Too many watts with too little spread, its not going to give a wide enough spread. Also i cant recognize the boards as one of the designs of a trusted alibaba vendor.

The deal was 4 of these lights for $1000
package deal definitely makes it more appealing but I personally would still pass. Like Rocket said, there are at couple of China brands w decent reputation among RIU users - Meiju and Kingbrite are the 2 more popular ones. Then theres another wave of brands that seem to be fly by night. Im sure they will grow decent buds, I would just consider that if one of them breaks, you won't be able to get it replaced. The biggest concern is that they jammed 480W of leds onto such a small footprint. You are going to have to hang these pretty high to get a decent spread, and they will run hot reducing the lifespan of the diodes.

Look at Grow Lights Australia. Get their driverless kit and get the drivers separate. Whenever I manage to finish my new flower room that is what I am going to be going for personally. I like the UV-A inclusion and the far red. They have done lots of great tests and have tons of great information on this forum.
How is the shipping to the states?

That I haven't decided yet. But for now I'd go full cycle in the room. Down the road maybe I could add another space for veg. What are some advantages/disadvantages to having them separate?
Hi. This is my first time post and browsing through this I thought I stick my two pennies in for the worth.
If you are planning to continuously grow with lights on and seek best buds then I would advise everyone to do separate veg and flower space even if that means sacrificing the space you already have into two. There are many advantages and no disadvantages (unless you have a very tiny area or just don't care)

1. You are keeping the flower cycle on permanently so you are continuously getting crop but taking them out individually when "they" are ready. (not all in all out as quick as you can, wham bam thank you mam approach)

2. I have seeded and cloned many different photoperiod plants over the years and with this option I have been able to select the best genes from many strains and kept them. If you start from scratch with five Northern light seeds for example you can pick the most healthy looking and decide what to clone, what to put into flower room and what goes in the bin. you can see how each individual plant reacts to the conditions in your flower room. How big and healthy and the Tricome count for example. When they are finishing in flower you still have there offspring (clone) in veg so you can decide if or what you want to keep and not loose that bloodline. Over time you will decide what was and not worth. Keep your favourites. This way you are in complete control and in a position to preserve the best gene and gain maximum quality.

3. You are maximising output. You are in a position to decide when a plant goes into flower based on its size and growth span ratio in flower because you all ready know. No more guessing about how long one should keep this or that plant in veg because you don't know if you will have the space or regretting you wished you kept it in veg for longer (stick around and you will hear this millions of times) If for example you are able to keep a certain type in veg for Twelve weeks and it flowers in Nine then you have not spent a complete cycle in Twenty One weeks and only have to start again . If you have a strain that reaches flowering point at say Thirteen weeks then you are not hanging around waiting for it to finish to start a new cycle.

Now, about the lighting. In vege I have Two 600w MH for 4x4metre. This is more than enough light. Trust me and keep to MH In vege its "ONLY" about building the blocks for the plants life. You have time because they are in permanently in veg remember. Veg means good root structure. Not feed or light to make it grow as fast as "you" want. let those roots stretch out in search off food.replicate natures spring blue spectrum. A good deep root structure will give you a far healthier, stronger and bigger plant when its finished. There is no point to them growing fast. You are still achieving the end goal but with far more rewarding and bigger plants. you can have hundreds of tiny little ladies if cloned at no cost. Pick what you want from little pot into big pot and bingo.

In flower its a whole different story and picking a good light can be a minefield especially with so many updated models and miss leading information. with my last upgrade and after many hours reading I opted for 600w Eye Hortilux super hps with A-wing Enforcer reflector for the top canopy and the sanlight q6 gen 2 at side angles around the sides. The higher PAR reading the better (remember you want usable light the plants absorbs not fancy kelvin readings that blind our eyes) and good quality ones are around 2.9. They are expensive but if you can stretch to it then do so at earliest opportunity. You will get the rewards and bucks back many times over. Also, there is never a set rule of thumb for distance. I can put a plant from veg 40 inch under hps and it will burn but get the same plant 14 inch under thriving at 5 week with her sister struggling at 20 inch. same as us humans we need to adapt to sun and we all have different tolerance levels( including identical twins). So take the manufacturers lighting distance and what you will get with a pinch of salt. Read your plants and let them tell you how far "they" want the height.

I grow in super soil and never ph but the principal is still the same. My only desire is producing best smoking pot and I think( with many testaments) I have got there. Everyone to there own and all depends on what peoples objectives are so no right or wrong but anyways that's my opinion on having a separate veg room, Good luck
